In 2015 they issued a 1099C loan forgiveness which I had to file with my taxes. I had to treat this as income and pay the tax on it. They then set up pa payment plan to recover the amount that was forgiven which they claimed on their taxes also. I paid this amount for several years until I started an inquiry and refused to pay them. Then they put a lien on my home. Dec 2022: in Oct and Dec 2022, i had mortgage payments set up online, & ended up logging back into the CM site a week or 2 later and rescheduling them for a different date. My husband and I was offered a 3-month deferment on our mortgage payment under what Carrington calls a COVID-19 forbearance program. One month in the plan, my husband received a call from one of their representatives stating our house was in foreclosure. Really? I had been on the phone going on 2 hours attempting to get a simple issue resolved with my Progressive insurance rep on 3 way. It has been incredibly difficult to get in contact with any one. BOA sold my loan to this horrible company. I have excellent credit and it sounded like a deadbeat company for people who don't pay. All was well for quite a few years and all of a sudden my bill pay from BOA is "late" and I get a late charge. I ate the cost of that ($21.72 late fee). My previous lender sold the loan to them which is an awful company does not make payments online they will charge you fees and late fees. Fee for 38.47+5.00 for online payment. And they will deny that the payment was made on the due date and if you pay on the weekend they will say that does not count because it got to be done Monday- Friday from 8am - 8pm eastern time. This customer charges a TON of miscellaneous fees. My mortgage was transferred to them from BOA and they are the WORST!! I have to pay a $5 "convenience" fee to pay online and $20 to pay over the phone but I don't trust them to give them my account information to have it automatically paid since I see a bunch of complaints about them pulling double payments. I have contacted Carrington about a half dozen times since they acquired our home mortgage loan from B of A in 9/2015. Apparently the staff that opens their mortgage payment mail do not know how to read the mortgage coupons. I always pay extra towards the principal and lo and behold, they always screw it up. Carrington is the worst company ever. My Mortgage was sold to them on 10/02/15. My October payment had already been taken and reported to them by Chase at the time of the sale but Carrington took a second payment causing several over drafts on my bank account. I would like to make a complaint against Carrington Bank. Bank of America sold my mortgage to this company in April of 2015 with no notice to me. Carrington Banks has increased my mortgage payment with no explanation. When I try to call to ask, they claim it is because they need a "two month" cushion for escrow payments. Having my Loan bought by Carrington Mortgage was the best thing that could have happened to me. After over two years of trying with Citi to get an approval on a HAMP Modification and sending the paperwork again and again nothing was ever approved. Due to USPS bad service the check payment was sent on June 6, 2012 but reached their office on June 19. Despite my calls and explanations they still slapped me with late fee of $79.95.
