I decided to get of rid of my old diamond ring and started looking for an appraiser to get the value before i go to look for a buyer. I have got recently engaged and wanted to verify the quality of the diamond that my boyfriend got for me. I highly recommend Los Angeles International Gemological Laboratory. I recently took an opal ring to Paul for appraisal. He's a really nice, personable guy, accommodating, with exceptional knowledge and experience. I want to say my overall experience with this agency was wonderful! I was a bit scared because I had never had anything appraised before and I wanted to ensure that I went somewhere legit. If you have any jewelry that you want to get appraised for selling, LAIGL is the right place to go for it. I brought in three rings, and they did an excellent job. One of the rings was really old with a gemstone that i had no idea what it was. The appraiser Paul Shikhvarger has identified it on the spot(it was red spinel). Paul Shikhvarger, the appraiser, did great job on my diamond ring that I brought for insurance appraisal. He explained the 4cs (color, clarity, cut and carat)about my diamond in details, the document he created was very comprehensive and easy to understand(my insurance agent love it). Paul and his staff are very professional in all that they do. My Seller Boris, sent in a ring for them to appraise. They have went out of their way to make sure that I have the correct appraisal and that everything was appraised correctly. They are sending me a corrected copy of the appraisal as the ring examined turns out to be both 14kt and 18kt Gold. I am very happy about that as we first thought that it was just 14kt. Paul was really great and I was able to get a quick and accurate appraisal the same day I called. With the results he gave me I learned that the jewelry store I bought my diamond from was not the quality they told me it was, so I took the certificate he gave me and went back to the store (never shop at Romano's jewelers, by the way!) and they became honest and gave me a different diamond.
