WE received a letter that seemed to be accurate in a debt my husband owed...yet when I tried to contact the number printed on the bill it went to some automated offer listing, " if I wanted to hear my horoscope...blah blah blah.." I checked the number to the letter send multiple times and I dialed the right number. I have been hassled by there firm in Tx for a little over a month. They said they have sent out many letter and I have to pay the balance or they will sue. When I told him I could provide insurance information he said no you have to pay it insurance will not help we do not deal with insurance. This company is a debt collector. However, they are not doing legit business. They presented me charges that I had no knowledge of since I was a victim of ID Theft. I sent them letters and copy of my police report. No response yet. First thing they did, submitted invalidated information to credit bureaus and affected my excellent credit standing. Read More »

September of 2010 - DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY PERSONAL BANKING INFORMATION!!!! They have been harassing me for 6 months now. I have been out of work for over 2 years, and 2 of my accounts have been purchased by them. They use threatening tactics, and I decided to take one of the settlement offers on my Lowe's account, however, it was under the condition that if I could not borrow the funds to make good I would cancel. The company has contacted me after a company in California called TAS Tatan Asset Services contacted me. They are very unprofessional in there contact with others. They are rude and very misleading. They call from one office but claim they have offices in three different cities. They also give you a number that is forward to El Segundo Ca. From Houston,Tx. This Company is dishonest and very shady. Back in 2004 I had closed my Sears credit card. It was a write off. When I closed the card I still owed $2514. Brachfeld and Associates bought my old debt that was written off and began to harass me for payment for the amount that was owed to Sears. They sent me court papers in the mail and said I had been served papers stating that I owed them the full amount I owed Sears.The court papers looked Bogus to me, but I was not sure. After performing an agreement with this firm they were quick to debit my account and did not give a letter of release. After contacting them they stated that I would have to wait 30 days for such a letter. In dealing other companies they forwarded a release letter the very same day. I believe this lack of good faith and a breach of their agreement is not only a breach of good faith but may be illegal in California. I recently quit working at Brachfeld & Associates after two years of faith full service. I was expecting a bonus check for the month of September they told me that they weren't going to give it to me. I work hard for it and earned it fairly.
