Due to losing a job and a subsequent medical crisis, I was left with a bad credit rating and had to get a car loan from these low lifes. I was quoted an interest rate that was high but acceptable given the circumstances. The contract also had this credit rating written in it. Consumer Portfolio Services has a false rating on a BBB report which has been generated by bogus individuals referred to BBB by CPS. CPS initially had a rating of F+ because of illegal credit collection and reporting activities. The company is the snake in the grass, which has eluded IRS, Consumer Protection Agency and the Attorney General, by approving customers who are struggling to make ends meet. Brought a car is 08 that was way over priced. I knew when brought it the due date was off from my pay cycle, they said that is OK you have a 10 day grace period...That is when the nightmare began of harassment. I just wanted to say thank you to CPS. I had the opportunity to get a car. They took a risk on me because of my bad credit as they do with many of the scumbags on here complaining about the customer service. I have had the many reps that have handled my account over the years. and Yes, some are rude because they see an outstanding balance that is months behind. I appreciate the company financing my car but they by far has the worst customer service in history. The only descent person I spoke with was my account manager. They make you want to just give the car back and count your loss if this is what you have to go through really. When I was notified that my loan was sold to this company by Fireside I contacted both companies to verify all my loan information was correct and no additional fees would suddenly pop up since I was only 1 year from paying it off. First off, I never signed with this company, they bought my loan from Fireside and it all went to hell. I was never able to contact them on the phone, sometimes leading to a week's interest and 6-20 hours on the phone to make a payment. Tried mailing it in, they sit on it for a couple days. I received an Auto Loan from CPS on Feb 09 2011. I normally pay the loan through my "online bill pay" with my bank. CPS does have the option on their website to pay via Western Union for a $12.00 fee, but their site to pay online seems to be ALWAYS down,I have sent them a couple of emails and they responded only one time. I can relate to anyone who has written about CPS. I got a loan from them unfortunately in 8/2007. I had never fallen behind or was late until 2010 when I was with my now ex-fiancé. However, they have been rude, threatened repossession, hang ups if you try and dispute anything that was being said. Has anyone payroll account ever been garnished by Consumer Portfolio Services Inc(CPS), Irvine, CA. for an unpaid car loan. Long story short the vehicle they financed for me was totaled. LIARS LIARS LIARS!!! i was told that if i pay 1/2 my car note 2 weeks before its due and then pay the last half on the due date, then i would avoid paying any interest...well out of $439 payment, only 117 went to the principal balance! This so called company is EXTREMLY rude and un-professional!!! We have had a account with them for a little over 3 years and have had trouble in the past paying on time. Is there any way that they can be accountable for being so rude and disrespectful? I have been financed through CPS for four years now. We have been dealing with a auto finance company for 3 yrs, we ended up voluntary surrendering vehicle due to their constant hounding us, even if one day late they would call every phone we had sometimes 2-3 times daily and even call relatives and friends stating they were "CPS calling" they are consumer portfolio services. I too have had almost the same issues as I have been reading here. But, I can go one step further, get this, they REFUSED to take my payment over the phone. CPS not only contacted my neighbor, but also: my ex husband, ex mother in law, current boyfriends daughter. They sent an email to my personal email address with other customers attached. They know where I live as they have been here before and left a note on my door. From what I read on the Consumer Fair Credit Act, they may not contact other if they already know where you live and they may not divulge that they are attempting to collect a debt. The positive about this company is that they financed me as a second-chance (subprime) lender and I was grateful. Everything else is negative.
