We have used ECM for several years now with each year getting worse. We finally made a decision to cancel this BS contract for the following reasons: 1)Our AC (Which we purchased from ECM) was leaking from the air handler. We had ECM come out and he cleaned the drain line. I advised him that I already did that but the quack said he had to do it again. My parents have been using ECM for over 20 years in their Palm Beach villa. They have purchased two AC systems (a new one three years ago), water heaters, and service contracts including ac checkups every year. They have spent over $35,000 and have recommended them to others. ECM was always competent, polite, efficient, and never argued over a service call. This sadly is no longer the case. The service tech Miguel Laborde was in my house a total of 25 minutes, and all he did was to try and sell me a $5.400.00 dollar system!!!! He did not make any attempt to check or do the tune up. He left my overflow valve sideways so he leaked all over my floor overnight. The worst customer experience I have ever had. So I call the ECM office and was told that was to bad!!!! I have an appliance service contract with ECM. The premiums are expensive, and the policy doesn't cover everything. I called them because the ice maker in my refrigerator was making very little ice. Stay away from ECM at all cost!!! ECM installed a top of the line AC unit in my house that included 10 year warranty. 2 years later the thermostat goes dark. It's one of those sophisticated Lennox iTouch, so I called their service, I was told "parts are under warranty, but labor is not. A diagnostics by our technician is $45" The guy shows up, within a minute determines is the thermostat is bad. LG IS CONTRACTED WITH ECM TO INSTALL WARRANTIED REPLACEMENT PARTS. ECM should probably stand for "We don't care". We have been having issues nonstop for years with our unit which was paid in full and installed by ECM 4 years ago. Their customer service is amongst the worst in the industry. They have yelled at me on the phone and called me a liar! To be fair: 3 service calls this year: 1. Dishwasher repair: No real problem. (some delays in coming out) 2. Toilet repair: ballcock replaced. Easy repair, Done quickly 3. Clothes washer repair. Service person said parts needed to be ordered. 5 years ago I had a service contract and needed a plumber to install a new faucet in my sink. The ECM guy did a poor job and insulted my wife. It stills leaks to this day. Recently I had a service call on the A/C to drain the line. It was under warranty but I had to pay for the service call...That cost me $188 for one hour. I question the fee. Absolutely WORST bunch of (fill in the blank)s I have ever encountered! Do yourself a favor and spare yourself the frustration! Where to begin. DO NOT use this company! An absolute rip off! I was told I needed a relay switch for my air handler and a 30 amp switch on the compressor, I was told that if we bought both parts I would get the compressor switch for half price, half price was $289, having company coming in a few hours I had them fix it. I had an A/C not cooling well. Service requested and they came within 24 hours. The technician spent about 45 minutes "testing" the A/C. Basically said the unit is leaking, can't find the leak, the equipment is old and out of warranty (six years old unit) and the fixable parts are not manufactured anymore. This is to caution anyone who is considering a contract with East Coast Mechanical (a/k/a ECM). As a tenant in a rental condo, I am obligated to call ECM whenever I experience an appliance problem since my landlord has maintained a service contract with the company. For the past 4 years I have had a maintenance contract with EMC on my A/C. About 2 weeks ago my A/C started to give me trouble. The company that cares about money not service. Will pressure you to buy a new unit, most techs have no knowledge and mis diagnose. Customer service reps have no training and no knowledge. Nobody at the company has any idea of current promotions and how they are handled. Managers are even worse, they will not call customers back that are having issues, and seem like that they could care less about your problem. We have a new home, 5 years old, only twice have they ever covered anything. Their famous answer is "you do not have replacement", yet when I tell them I want their best policy, they sell me non-replacement coverage. They are also incompetent, never have parts available, unless it is something very simple, and if the part is not standard, guess what, there is a charge. I do not recommend that anyone use them. This is the most horrible company I've worked with in Florida. They are rude, unknowledgable, full of it and ripped me off. They replaced parts on my a/c unit and did not solve the problem. Ditto to every single bad review I just read. We bought a top of the line TRANE AC unit 3 years ago and since they did a bad job installing and didn't put the proper low voltage wire in, we have had nothing but chronic error code problems that shuts the unit down on the hottest days. The ONLY tech they have that knows what he's doing, recognized and noted the problem and gets the unit working until the next shyster comes out and runs up a huge service bill AND THEY NEVER FIX the wiring proble... I saw the ECM trucks in the neighborhood quite often so I thought that this must be a great company since everyone was using them so I did too. They are good for minor problems like changing the toilet plug or fixing something minor on our fridge. I would never recommend this company to anyone. They have fradulent and deceptive tactics to avoid doing the right thing for the customer. They will sweet talk you into yearly contracts and will never fix the root problem but make temporary fixes so customers keep renewing contracts and they never take care of the real problem because it costs more to them. Well lets start by understanding that AC Service in Florida is not a commodity but a necessity. We have a unit acquired no less than a year ago with a service contract from ECM. On Thursday morning 10am, and a 100 degree hot day the AC stop working. I would not recommend this company for any service. I purchased a service agreement good for one year. Shortly after I paid the contract , refrigerator problems started. I called to schedule an appointment and was told that the cams on the doors needed to be replaced. I am so disappointed in ECM and the "repair" that they did for us. They are like a doctor who shows up to do surgery with a rusty spoon and two band-aids. ECM installed my a/c 5 years and 2 months ago and also my mother's a/c 2 years ago. Everything is ok until you need their service. The first thing they do is to quote a price for repair and ask for the service called to be paid right away. I own 5 properties and I had Service America on all 5 homes but at renewal time I changed over to ECM because their rates were less expensive, about $75 less. Unfortunately my experience with ECM has been terrible. They send these fancy fliers advertising peace of mind, worry and hassle free repairs, they advertise that if they cannot fix it they will replace it. The truth is quite different. I purchased a service contract with ECM based on their advertisements. They state that they will provide unlimited service calls at no fee and will replace any covered appliance they cannot repair. We have called them twice ( after paying over $400 for the contract) and both times they have not fixed the problem and wanted to charge us $500+ to do the repair. I had heard many commercials regarding the service that ECM provides. I live in southern Florida and on a day when it was 90 degrees my air conditioner (only a year old) decided to stop working. Apparently they send a low level tech to check the problem you report. They do not rely on the customer to properly diagnose a problem. This adds to a long delay to get proper service from this company and I will never use them again.
