My phone was stolen while I was cleaning a mess at the gym and was secured in the cell phone holder on the equipment, I just received a notice from them as well saying that I had an unsecure premise as well. My husband and I purchased verizon phones from Wirefly 11 months ago and chose the additional protection plan for our phones from MDPA. The manufacturers warranty from Verizon ended on April 18, 2013. Don't use this company! They don't communicate well at all. I dropped my phone and applied for a repair via their website. I received an email with the information to send in the phone to a repair shop in Michigan. I would be without my phone for at least 1 week. They did not tell me I could take it to a local repair shop and be reimbursed up to $100 in the email they sent me. sent my phone in for repair of a crack screen and camera lens. They refuse to repair it stating their is liquid damage and corrosion. That is total bs. I have never let my phone touch any liquid. I just went through a very frustrating 27 day process trying to get a replacement phone based on the warranty that I have held with this company for over a year. I filed 2 claims with MDPA for my Motorola Android Pro. The first time it had a broken screen after being dropped and they replaced the screen with no deductible. My second claim was for the power button no working and the camera not taking pictures correctly. After receiving my phone, I immediately got an email back stating my phone was unrepairable and they would be sending me a "new one". Was also turned down by their department. The company is underhanded and devious. I was also told that it was unsecured and negligent. I believe this is a catch-all that they always use. We got stuck with MDPA when we ordered my daughter's Sprint Evo Shift from RadioShack. When I tried to switch to Asurion (our other 3 phones are with them) it was too late. If I could rate MDPA with a 0 I would. My phone was stolen while I was in Miami. I called, sent them the police report, they denied my claim as having my phone in a purse on my shoulder represented negligence to them. When my phone first broke in November, I was scared to death after the reviews I had read for MDPA. Not much to add to the other comments, except to say they are awful - really nearly a total scam. It has taken over a month of back and forth, delays, lack of response, broken promises - for them to say that they cannot repair my phone but will offer a cash settlement. More negotiating - they low-ball the settlement. Now they say 7-10 days to get the cash. I will be amazed if it comes. When I cracked my phone (motorola bionic) 3 weeks after I bought it, and needed to file a claim, I was extremely nervous because of all the bad reviews I've read about this company. It's pretty disturbing that they only do claims with their web site form. However, they came through for me. FRAUD! I was hit by a cyclist in an intersection and my phone was knocked from my hand breaking the glass, otherwise still working condition. I sent it to them and they refused to fix it due to extensive corrosion/water damage. Buyer Beware! These people appear to have a habit of refusing claims. I wish I had read the reviews before signing up with this company. There are much better companies than this one in the market. Even if some are a bit more expensive, it is better than finding out you really don't have the coverage you thought you had. When purchasing 5 phones from Wirefly, they recommended purchasing insurance for the 3 blackberry phones from MDPA. I was assured they were a reputable company. However, when one of the blackberry phones was stolen 2 weeks ago, and a police report submitted, MDPA refused to replace it.
