Hands down the worst experience I have had with a company. The hidden fee's and below poor customer service have been beyond painful. Merchant One withheld 20,000$ in credit card transactions from one of our small businesses without any explanation. They then turned off the terminal and threatened to keep our funds for 180 days because there was a error on the p.o.s systems they sent us. We paid 1400$ for the terminal and they will not give us a refund for a 3 month old system. Salesman pitch stated $3.95 fee per month and 2 different percentages per transaction depending on keying or swiping, plus $0.15 per transaction. I told him we were new and had no idea how much we would the service. He asked about my total sales and said I'll put down you're only doing a total of $3000 per month. I opened an account with Merchant One and then suffered a case of buyer's remorse. I tried to cancel only to be informed that there was an $875 early-cancellation fee. I guess I failed to read the fine print when I submitted my online application. Needless to say, I withdrew my request to close the account. Used Merchant One for over 8 years, asked for a review of my account, sales rep came back with great news, he could save me money. after agreeing to the new rates my account cost more. If I could give this company a negative star rating I would. BEWARE. This company will sell you on rates that don't actually exist. You MUST read the fine print!!! The rates differ depending upon the type of credit card used ie: rewards cards incur higher rates that non-rewards cards. Their customer service is HORRENDOUS!!! This is the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with in 30 years. Sales reps will tell you want you want to hear, hide the facts, change the website to remove things they used to promote but got busted on and threaten you with lawsuits if you don't pay cancellation fees that used to be highlighted on their website until recently. Whatever you do DO NOT use Merchant One out of Miami Florida for a merchant processor. Do NOT trust these people. BIG WARNING!!!!! They have NO INTEGRITY They will lie to you just to make a dollar. I made sure and asked questions about fees. The sales person,, Cust rep told me there were no extraneous fees. Just the ones listed in the email she sent me. There was supposed to be $20 in fees and 1.93% for the transactions. I have a business in Ontario and had signed up with Merchant one. Within the first month, I faced some technical problems with the machine provided, which was promptly resolved when I called them. Super helpful getting you setup and getting me the terminal. Merchant One is misleading! I signed up with them two years ago, only to find they capped the transaction dollar amount on purchases, which hurt us dearly due to our high ticket sales. Also they raised our interest rate about 5 times during the year "due to higher interchange rates".... So the advertised rate didn't last long. I made the HUGE mistake of switching to Merchant One. Let it be a lesson to anyone considering them for CC processing. They will say anything - including blatant lying - to sign you. I was a customer of Merchant One until about a month ago. I only stopped my service because I decided to go with Intuits iPhone swiper. The year and half I was with Merchant One they were beyond exceptional. When I first signed up I asked how long the contract was and he said he would sign me up for 1 year, after that it would be MTM. Hi All, I have 3 accounts with Merchant One, all of them cell phone stores. They gave me 3 free terminals, one of them digital that I know cost $350 bucks and true to their word I only paid shipping fees!! This company seemed great at the beginning...low rates and low monthly fee. Then all of the sudden we see a charge on our bank account. Apparently the flat monthly fee that had originally been quoted was a teaser to suck you in. Almost $90 in extra fees were charged. Got sucked in by promises of low rates. Within a few months found out we were paying fees through the nose! In addition they charge PCI fees for customers who never enter information on our site - they don't have a clue nor have an understanding of PCI rules. Then at the end of the year a mysterious $100 yearly fee for some reason. Now that they know I am leaving they offer to waive the yearly fees from now on. Run very far away from this company. I have been with Merchant One for over a year. The customer service is horrible, everyone seems to be clueless. They are not as honest with their customers and they should be. I would tell anyone reading these reviews....DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. In the long run you will be sorry. I have been with merchant one for over 2 and half years, and I could honestly say I have never had any complaints. I have never waited on hold for more then 90 seconds and answered all my questions, and they never made me feel like I was a burden to them.
