Below is what happened as I try to get my replacement:

I ordered an advanced replacement warranty claim of my defective external HDD, Seagate 2TB desktop extension, to Seagate on Feb 22th. My order number is 1003887128 and my case number is 01509001. At that time the agent I contacted promise me that I will get my drive by Feb 25th. I did not receive my drive by 25th, I call their agent on... Read More »

Jesus posted a review

I just bought a new external hard drive yesterday at Costco. I figured $99 for a 2 TB hard drive is not a bad price. When I get home and I plug it in, I am expecting it to work properly but no, I get an error stating F:/ Application not found.

My first thought is user error. So i unplug it and plug it back in and I get the same error. My next thought is to check Seagate's website for support. All I have to say about their support site is that it's messy, very, very messy. I did a search and... Read More »

Kevin I. posted a review

Seagate technologies external hard drives are faulty and are failing at alarming rates within weeks of initial use. A quick internet search of Seagate external hard drives will show thousands of complaints for the same issues. With no response from company or any solutions provided in nearly a year. You will be astounded by the number of people reporting problems with Seagate external hard drives.
Their return policy is cumbersome and requires the customer to cover the burden of costs, includ... Read More »

Michael B. posted a review

In the past I had come to rely on Seagate's products, but I am deeply disapointed and will no longer be using them. I will recommend that my business partners do not use them, and I will go out of my way to purchase non-seagate products. I had a portable drive fail from Seagate's Maxtor division. Seagate has since been dodgy at best in its responses and seems to be actively avoiding my inquiries. So far they have told me the drive falls asleep and doesn't wake up, but they won't tell me how t... Read More »

John D. posted a review

I've relied on seagate for years, never will anymore. Their 7200.11 drives have become failures, i may be exaggerating but if you read the forums and sites like newegg, it seems like there are 80-90% failures.

they simply dont care, their tech support takes 40 minutes to answer and claims that the firmware and everything is OK, they also make you pay 20 dollars per drive for advance exchange, something their competitor Western Digital does for free.

I will be considering filing a BBB claim... Read More »

BGryphon posted a review

I own a refurbished FreeAgent desk-top external hard drive. I have a refurbished one as an exchange for the new one I purchased. It kicked out Error Message 8211 which, last year, their web-site did not acknowledge.

Earlier this year it started happening again, and I contacted the co rather than pay $20 for an 'expedited shipment' of yet another refurbished unit. After speaking to three people I was finally able to speak to someone who actually knew what the error message means (c... Read More »
