We contracted a partial truckload move, from FL to TN, with Unique Vanlines in Tarzana, CA. We were treated horribly - their employees are the rudest we've ever dealt with - and their service was nonexistent. The stole two items and broke numerous others. After stealing our $350.00 desk chair and $199.00 hand-truck, and breaking one lamp and two tables, they offered a miserly $64.20 in reimbursement. I hired WePack who outsourced the move to UniqueVanLines for my move from Indy to Miami. The only good thing about this was the initial phone call with the salesguy Arthur. He assured me over the phone that all my stuff was 100% insured and that any broken, missing, dented, scratched or damaged in anyway item will be paid for or replaced. I am beyond frustrated with Unique Van Lines. I contracted with Assurance Van Lines who sub-contacted to Unique to move things from mom's house in Ohio to Houston. Contract states "delivery may take 1-21 business days (1001-1500 miles, 2-8 days). It'll be 30-days 9/11. I had to call Assurance (8/8) to find out the pickup, Karin (Unique) called saying pickup was scheduled for 8/10. THEY DID NOT PICK UP UNTIL 8/11. I got several quotes from different moving companies to move from the South of Florida to Nevada. The one that jumped out was a nice young man from California Van Lines. After listing all the items that had to be shipped we added a safety margin in the volume to be on the safe side. We ended up with 400 cu/ft, the price was reasonable ($1350), especially after comparing to the alternatives of Pods and renting a truck and driving ourselves. This is by far the worse, un-caring, non- professional, irresponsible company I have ever dealt with! A loss of 25 articles meant nothing to them. I have moved over 15 times in my life and this is probably the worst experience I've had. I'm not saying that it was completely horrible, but about 80% bad. Where to start? Let's start with the good. While Karin in the office is extremely nice, it is important to consider that Unique is not actually a moving company. Unique movers will not show up at your house. This company is a broker and a random group of movers will show up at your house and you can do no research as to how good people who actually handle your furniture are. This is the second time Ive used Unique and as good as the service was first time around they managed to top it. They have done moves for me from Miami to New York and to Ct. during a snow storm and went out of there way to deliver. I highly recommend ! Read More »

Well as you can see Unique Van Lines emailed back from my post I wrote. Everything in there was a big lie!!!!! HMMMM..... I wonder who wrote that, maybe KARIN who is suppose to be out of the country. I have never used a moving company before and I called so many places to get quotes. I went on line and read reviews and searched in hopes to find a company that I would be able to trust. They never even showed up. Told us they would call the day before to schedule a time. They did and scheduled for between 9 am and 2 pm. Well after getting the run around all day about how the trucks broke down, the trucks are stuck in Gainesville, blahblah, Karin finally told my husband, "if you need to move today, I would rent a Uhaul." IF you think you wanna use this company DO NOT DO IT!!! We used them October, 2010! Unless you want to be told one price as a quote, only to have it changed on moving day, because the person on the phone half heard your requirements, told you what would be done; "our guys will blanket wrap and protect all your furniture, and if you have the original boxes that is even better - we won't charge you for boxes". I worked with Unique Van lines a few months ago. I have rarely come into contact with a more shady and difficult company. Many of my friends and I used them as we moved away from med school at UM and all of us have had problems. They broke a ton of our stuff. They paid our claim only in part stating that some of our items were still "usable" Since they were usable, they paid only 1/2 of the value.
