My son went snowboarding by himself in Maggie Valley and his car broke down. It was after 4pm on a friday with an impending ice storm coming. I found Earls Automotive on the internet and called him. He said he would wait for AAA to tow our car to him (even though it would be after 5pm) and he would look at it and fix it that night if he could get the parts he needed. I had my water pump, and all belts replaced last year with very reasonable prices. Today I had tires put on at another place, and they told me my power steering unit needed to be replaced at a cost of $420. I called Earl, brought my car in to him, and he found that nothing was wrong with it at all. He said maybe next year I will need to get the hose replaced. Cost for today $0. Earl was not honest. I took my vehicle in for a replacement water pump. now almost 2 years and $3000 (including what was paid to him) my van still is not running properly. I tried disputing the charge with my bank and they informed me that auto repair was not covered in my consumer protection. So he got paid for making my van completely undrivable! I was told this morning by another mechanic that the van isn't worth fixing at all because of what Earl did to it. Read More »
