I called due to a tax issues. After months of stressing out on what to do. As soon as I got of the 1st phone call I felt so much better The staff explained everything to me in terms that I could understand. They worked with me every step of the way and because of James S "My attorney" I was able to settle with the IRS for about 97% of what was owed. I owed 214,000 dollars in back taxes. I didn't think I had much of a chance of getting it down and they had started garnishing my wages. James Sharmat handled my case and got them to stop garnishing my wages and got it down to owing just 10,000 dollars. It took a BIG big weight off my shoulders. This review will supersede any reviews. I paid tax lifeboat approximately $2000 dollars to represent me. James Sharmat constantly lost items that i submitted to him. He presented an offer an compromise to the IRS. They responded with an offer that was more than I initially negotiated. Mr. Sharmat continued with the process. Throughout the process of Tax Lifeboat assisting me with 3 years of unfiled taxes I felt like I was repeatedly ignored when it came to giving input to my tax situation for one year in particular. I had moved for business reasons and had all the receipts to use for deductions. Shortly after the economic turn in 2008, our business tanked and we were hit with an audit. Unable to pay taxes, we had a tax burden of over $160,000 and were losing everything. Tax Lifeboat took over my case from another company, so they came in to the situation with a lot of catching up to do. But they did a great job of keeping me informed of the progress of my case with the IRS and actually MAKING progress. The IRS is slow to respond and the whole process is frustrating, but Tax Lifeboat helped me to understand what was going on and what the next steps were at all times. I can not say enough about this wonderful company, and my personal consultant, James Sharmat. My husband and I went through a living hell with the IRS. We hired three other tax resolution companies before finally finding one that actually did what they said they would. It is not often that the company one has hired to get you out of difficulty with the IRS goes bankrupt but, that is exactly what happened to me and ended up hiring TAX LIFEBOAT to save me from an already difficult situation. Struggled for a couple of yrs trying to deal with our IRS problems ourselves & were getting no where. The fees , interest & penalties kept rising till it more than doubled what we originally owed - then they started garnishing my wages & put levies to boot didn't know where to turn for help. I had a really bad experience with another tax company that went bankrupt. Tax Lifeboat went right to work when I talked to them, set me up with the easiest way to communicate for me (email) and took care of the forms back and forth. Thank you! Due to my own procrastination I created an IRS mess that I had not resolved over a two year period. I was not sure what to do as I let the situation worsen. I contacted Tax Lifeboat on Tuesday and by Thursday afternoon the issue was resolved (bank levy refunded) and a plan brokered via conference call with the IRS. I hesitantly chose Tax Lifeboat, Inc. because now-a-days too many promises are made but not followed through. I am more than ecstatic that I did choose them. Not only were they courteous, attentive (made me feel like I was their only client) and informative- they were blazing fast. "Thank you for allowing me to exhale! I could not sleep and was a nervous wreck when I receive notice that IRS was going to garnish my wages. You worked through your lunch, lost phone contact with IRS after you had almost finished wrapping up the deal for me, and then you called them back to stay on the phone for 3 hours negotiating on my behalf.
