I paid $100 dollars because the colorist (Danielle) told me to get the color removed them sent me a formulation that put the SAME color I detested back in. I had to call twice,the first time I was put on hold for ten minutes then sent to an answering machine. After leaving a message, no one returned my call so had to call back.Then the colorist on the phone blamed me for not adding a picture of the stripped color after they had already sent the dye. I get better results from Drug Store brands. The formulation received did not cover my gray roots adequately and turned them a weird pinkish-orange color. The formula was also extremely harsh -- my hair felt like straw. It even smelled bad (strong chemical & ammonia odor) for a couple of days even after shampoo and conditioning. I followed the instructions closely and applied so much of the remaining color, and then I used the shampoo and conditioner provided for after coloring. My hair felt like plastic, like it had a coating of glue or wax on it. I spent 30 minutes or so under the shower trying to rinse it off, the color just would not rinse. I tried esalon hair color. After 30 yrs. of having my hair done professionally thought I give them a try. BIG MISTAKE ! Esalon has given me the perfect hair color, so good that stylists ask me who does my color, I am 58 and a strawberry blond but had lost the red in my hair with store bought color. I used esalon one time. I was happy enough with everything-maybe a bit on the red side but no biggie. My hair was in decent shape & the color seemed to last OK-but I definitely didn't want a 12 week rotation & said so. I am super religious and picky about how often I cut my hair and who cuts my hair. Shortly after moving to a brand new city, it took me a while, but I found a guy that cuts my hair perfectly. I have multicolored hair which includes highlights. I bought my kit so I can touch up roots and start transitioning to a basic natural color. Wow!! Great results, you can't even tell. I still have highlights too. I just touch up the roots like it says and then just brushed through some of the color down my long hair and it looks great. First time I have used the product. It was quite easy to apply. A slight bit darker than I thought it would be, but turns out I love it. It doesnt fade like other products I have applied myself for years. My gray is completely covered up and the edges around my face, a week later are still holding great color.
