This is one of the worst finance companies out there!!! We purchased a fridge for $1050 and decided to finance it but we were unaware of the "contract terms." We take responsibility for that but what kind of company can be above board when they decide to charge 36 payments of $113.76 after the "discount offer" period ended. I went Through their finance back in February 2022 there's a lot of hidden stuff that you don't realize when you are going through the process with sitting with the furniture company are at as well as this loan. American First Finance (AFF) is a joke - do not, I repeat, DO NOT ever do business this company!! They are not upfront with their financing costs/policies - that information is hidden within the contract. I purchased my mattress set through a business and they use AFF as their financing company. This company was selected when financing a sectional sofa in January. I never received any documentation from the company, nor is it outlined on the website, regarding their astronomical interest rate after '90 days same as cash.' My finance amount was ~$1,300.00. As of July, I've paid $1,528.06. According to them, I still owe $1,148.06 which means I've only paid about $115.00 towards the principal. An awful company that changes payoff amount and scams people out of money! I had screenshots of our payoff amount and they insisted that was because of a glitch in their system and was trying to drag out my issue until after my 90 days same as cash was up so I would have to pay all the interest! Called to see why I was charged 3 times within the same week for a final payment. First time I called the agent hung up on me. Called right back got the same agent he replies 'oh your account is messed up, let me get you over to a supervisor.' Needless to say he transfered me to another agent who said he didnt know what was wrong with my account and transfrered me to another agent. Stay away from this company! They are horrible to do business with they lie to you, there customer service reps will not help you, they are rude and I even had one hang up on me because they pulled two payments out of my account within two days they were unwilling to correct it and would not let me speak they were talking over me and than hung up. They steal your money without authorization and charge your bank account whenever they want and however many times they want in a month. Read More »

The customer service stinks. They lie to you when there is an issue just to shut you up. I was supposed to receive a refund 5 days ago still hasn't hit my bank. They call you every 2 hours even though you have been in contact with customer service via email because I am unable to use my voice. I was lied to in the beginning about interest free payoff. Even with good....not just FAIR credit....119% interest??? Are you kidding me? I will NEVER do business with these guys again...PERIOD! My wife was not aware of the finance company's name until AFTER the contract on our new furniture was signed. They touted 90 day same-as-cash. $4.93 per day....THAT'S THE INTEREST! American Financial is a SCAM!!!! They were very aggressive with advertising, calls, and emails. After they collected more than 1,000.00 dollars from me they were unable to be reached by phone, letters, or emails. They failed to keep their promises of assisting with any help of getting my home modification. This company will call you everyday until they get there Money upfront. They will promise you your money back if they fail to get you a Medicaid luck.. If you talk to James he will be the good guy and turn out to be a con artist. Call his cell phone 1-949-394-2665 and it will be full. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This company is a scam, according to the BBB it is illegal in the state of California to collect a fee for the purpose of obtaining a mortgage modification before the loan modification is completed. America First Financial not only collected a fee before the loan modification was completed, collected a fee before they would even look at the paperwork that was requested. My home was in jeopardy of foreclosure. Finally a little over 10 business days before the sale date of my home they wanted to send incomplete/inaccurate paperwork to my mortgage company for a modification on our loan. When I did some research I emailed them questions like why am I paying upfront fees they got all defensive. I quoted the information from the BBB "Effective October, 2009 in California, it is illegal to collect any upfront fees, regardless of the form, for negotiating or attempting to negotiate a loan modification for a residential mortgage.
