There is a trend, and a terrible scam by Ygrene and Rooter - DO NOT use ANY service with Rooter valued at over $100. We started with a backed up line, that turned into a $3000 project, that we could finance, to an $18k project financing through Ygrene. The total will be $36-40,000 over 20 years. When you call Rooter Hero you'll hear a recording telling you that their service people will be neat and your satisfaction is very important to them. Here's how it really is: Rooter Hero replaced a broken main drain at my house. They told me the job would be done in 3 days and it took 7 days due to disorganization and lack of planning. Had a clog storm drain. Called this Rooter Hero because of the advertised $79 to clear any drain. Also advertised as BBB member. Person came on time and stuck a 1/4" snake about 4 feet into the drain. He pulled up a little bit of root and declared the drain was clog with root. Contracted with Rooter Hero for the $79 snake (cable out) of bathroom sink on 1/26/2011. Technician claimed there was an obstruction and a seven foot section of pipe would need to be replaced. Technician also stated that the entire sewer system needed to be replaced for $4,000 and identified 10 major leaks within sewer system. The immediate spot job would cost $700.
