HireRight reported a discrepancy when there was none!

Hire Right reported a discrepancy with my education when there was none. When completing the requested information for my background check, I was not given the option to list a day of graduation, only the month and the year. When I received my "completed" report, I noticed that Hire Right put in the day of my graduation, even though I was not able to provide any. This of caused them to report a discrepancy with the date of my degree.
At the time when I was completing the form, I had completed all requirements for graduation and all that was left was to literally walk across the stage. If I was given the option to insert a date I would have inserted the 15th of the month, which was when the ceremony was held.
Hire Right, however, reported that I WROTE the 1st of the month as the day I received my degree.
I called several times, requesting them to change it but they didn't. They were not able to verify my masters degree because the third party they used, National Student Clearing House's database was not updated with graduates. I gave Hire Right all the contacts they could of used to contact the university to verify that I graduated.
They contacted the university, but because NSCH did not have a record of my degree, it was considered a discrepancy. Needless to say I was livid especially because I completed my masters degree with a 4.0 GPA! This technicality has delayed my hiring process, and I have no idea if the company will still hire me.
I believe, if the NSCH has not updated their database with graduates, then Hire Right should get in contact with the specific university and used that information as verification. Technicalities as such are detrimental to everyone who have recently graduated and needs verification that NSCH database is unable to provide.
It is Hire Rights job to do all the leg work for their clients and that entails utilizing secondary valid sources. After this ordeal, I filed a complaint with the FTC.
