What consumers need to know now is that this company used to be called Adoption Facilitation Services, and was located in San Pedro, CA. After we had signed a contract with them we learned that they had an "F" rating with the BBB. In 2009 they changed their name address and phone numbers and got a fresh start with the BBB but they are the same people (Richard and Suzanne Rose) and are in the same business. After our experience of working with them we understood how they got this rating. First we had a failed match and they had refused our request to give us our matching fee back even though they had successfully placed the baby with another couple. Once they had all our money we barely heard from them. In fact, nine months after the failed match we not only did not have a match, our profile had not even been presented to a single birth mother (they gave 3-4 months as a "reasonable" time frame to be matched). I recommend that no matter what facilitator you work with you insist that you will not pay the matching fee until you have legal custody i.e. birth parents have both signed or you are otherwise legally cleared to adopt. If a facilitator will not change the contract accordingly then don't sign. A lot can go wrong in adoptions.
But avoid these people regardless. We also caught them in a lie several times. One time he had told us one thing and our attorney something different and it was our attorney that caught him on it in a conference call. Our attorney also informed us that information they given us with regard to social services policies was totally inaccurate and having the right information could have had a huge impact on our situation. Besides, this is way beyond the scope of what a facilitator is allowed to comment on, let alone counsel on in the first place. It seemed to us that they were trying to influence the situation, God knows why, and it was an emotional nightmare for us. If I could have given them zero stars I would have.
