Review 10/26/2008
I like many of you was looking for help in taking care of past tax issues. I contacted Associated Tax Relief and spoke with Rob Loscialpo (if you use their first intial and last name at associated tax relief dot com you can email everyone whose name you have) Now what you need to understand is they get you on the phone with a sales person who takes advantage of your situation and promises you the world and lets you know that everything will be taken care of. In my case I was told I qualified and was a perfect person for their program. Everything would be smooth and a couple of months later I would receive my offer in compromise of between 3-5 thousand dollars a reduced rate. I paid my 4,900 dollars and waited for my paper work. After filling out the book they sent me (the wasted time spent bothers me more than the money) I got a response three months later.

Now in that time I left eight messages and six emails for a callback on a simple question. I did figure out that if you call the number on the TV ads you dont get their business you get their random sales people who are spread through out the country. (they ask how much do you owe the IRS the question should be how much do you owe me) If you want to get ahold of them look at the first email that was sent to you if you have it and call that person or call the 800# provided above. They all work together in that office don't be told otherwise. So, today I receive my long awaited response from Associated Tax Relief..... Guess what I do not qualify for the offer in compromise. I make to much (which trust me is not true) I gave Associated Tax Relief my full income during my first call and at that point I should have been told I did not qualify (they did however know I did not qualify after I paid them and provided the same income information) They knew I would not qualify because if you deduct the full amount of total living expenses which the IRS does using a standard (standard is the maximum amount you can deduct for living expense so if my rent is 2,000 dollars the IRS maxes me out at 1,232 so I have to go by that amount and this method is done for all expenses) then I would have a little money left over. So, what that means is if you make around 50,000 dollars a year personal or with your spouse you will not meet the IRS requirement for a settlement. When a company has that information upfront and paystubs that prove it for three months and still takes money I consider that fraud and what about the the fact of a settlement Fraud. They knew what the outcome would be and what did I get for my 4,900 dollars I filled out a bunch of paperwork and then Associated Tax relief put it through their own system and did not even submit anything to the IRS for compromise. Oh correction they did using the power of attorney (that I will never do again) ask for a payment plan from the IRS for 500 dollars a month that I will be paying until I am in the grave. I would have been better off just dealing with the IRS which maybe Associated Tax Relief was created for getting you talking to the IRS and taking the power of attorney away from you?

Now onto the fun stuff! I ofcourse will be contacting the BBB, both my state and CA attorney generals office but why stop there. I think that its important to call or email the stations that they advertise on and give them the facts of what Associated Tax Relief is doing to their viewers. I also would suggest contacting a news organization because they would love this story. To all that have been ripped off by this company be assured that I will in a legal, professional, and appropriate way make our voices heard. I really hated doing all that paper work. For those of you who are making a decision to do business with Associated Tax Relief. DONT!
