Review 5/10/2011
Reviews tell all! This place was recommended (on the list) from the Rancho Cucamonga Shelter. I took my Milo (my maltipoo) there today, because he started to throwing up last night. He's been throwing up since last night. Once I brought him in, the initial quote was 660.00 and Dr Jim Guirges hadn't even done anything. Usually when you get something looked at by a Dr, they will start and progress on what levels of treatment. E.g. give fluids (shot), then blood, then X-rays and if those don’t diagnose the problem…maybe over night stay. This doctor gave me the whole thing, telling me that he has to stay over night...or he might die. This doctor wanted to me to pay the 660.00 off the bat. I asked the Dr. Jim Guirges to give him fluids first to see what that would do and he refused to, unless I signed the paper work to start the 660.00 processes. Basically the treatment started at 660.00 and could go as high as 2,200.00. The final straw was when he told me, "don’t let your dog die". WOW.... A business should not strive on using peoples emotions to get the customer to fork out hundreds of dollars. This place is HORRIBLE! If I'm going to spend this kind of money, it’s NOT going to go to a Vet who tells you "don't let your dog die". This Vet will use your emotional attachment to your pets to dig DEEP into your pockets. I do realize that prices are high for Vet services and that not my issue, my issue is that this "Dr." will play your emotional string to get you to pay as much as possible. -THAT"S NOT ETHICAL. The tech/front people were great, just Dr Jim Guirges seemed a bit off. After leaving Baseline Animal Hospital I took Milo to Banfields in Fontana, this place compared to Baseline Animal Hospital is like night and day! They started with FLUIDS, then took blood and found out he has gastro something (tummy ache). Total treatment cost including meds was 225.00. He’s nice and healthy again thanks to Banfields! Update 5/10/11 Baseline Animal Hospital called The Humane Society and told them I was mistreating my dog and that I would not give him the proper treatment. WOW… They came and saw Milo and said he’s very healthy and good. I gave all the documentation of his treatment at Banfields and the guy went along his way. It’s not that I wouldn’t let my Milo get treatment, I just wouldn’t let him get treatment from Baseline Animal Hospital. Not only is Dr Jim Guirges a horrible Vet, but he will call the Humane Society and TRY to get your animal taken away out of revenge of posting a Yelp review. If this Vet was really worried about how I treated my dog he would have called the Humane Society right away and not 3 weeks later when he saw my Yelp review.
