The coverage offered by Beech Street is amazing, and the group rate is very reasonable. Unfortunately, that is the only good I have to say about this company.
We are currently on day 4 of trying to get them to approve a time sensitive drug (heparin) that will prevent miscarriage. They approved it today, however, will not let us pick it up at the pharmacy. We have to wait for it to be mailed to us through their partner pharmacy.
When my wife called to find out what our co-pays would be for the pregnancy, the phone was answered by a woman in the middle of laughing. She apologized and explained that she just got off the phone with a man who called a second time to try to get them to cover his medication. "As if we were just going to change our minds," she said. HIGHLY unprofessional.
When my wife asked about the co-pays and deductibles for a pregnancy, the woman responded telling her, "Our job is to make money, not provide medical services." She went on to explain that every single charge to our insurance would be reviewed by their own team of medical experts, and if they disagree with any diagnosis or services rendered by our OBGYN, they would withhold payment.
Dealing with Beech Street for even basic medical care is like negotiating with a used care salesman. If I could afford private insurance, I would leave this company in a heartbeat.
