Stranded my vehicle in LA unless I paid more than the contract price.

I accepted a written quote for a vehicle move from FL to HI for $2,000. I paid via a deposit and a direct payment to their ocean shipper. When the vehicle reached LA, Cardinal charged my credit card with "balance due"... to a total price of $2,200.
When I called to tell them the $200 billing error, "Ronnie" from Cardinal was extremely abusive from the first words. He said he was not interested in seeing the quote and had no obligation to honor the contract. If I did not pay the additional $200 he wanted, he would refuse to put the vehicle onto the ship and would abandon it in Los Angeles.
I had no choice but to pay the extorted fee in order to save the vehicle from being abandoned half way to Hawaii. This has every appearance of a fraudulent scheme that has been done before. I would strongly recommend you not entrust your belongings to these people or trust that a written contract will protect you from them, once they have control of your property.
