My Experience with Carville's was NOT good
I'm writing a review and it isn't a good one. I purchased a vehicle from Carville's a year ago. I didn't have the best credit, so I was, for lack of a better description, forced to go through their finance company. I have been making the payments for a year, as I said, but somehow missed one. I work out of state so I don't always get my mail on time, and sometimes messages on my phone are too broken up to understand. My point is that I called at my earliest convenience after I found out my payment was late and tried to make the payment over the phone right then and there. The manager of the legal department of their so-called finance comapny said it was too late, and that the vehicle has been processed for repossession. Well, this did not sit well with meas most lenders will usually say, "ok, pay us the payment now and make sure you are current on the next payment and we will temporarily pause the repo." No, this was not the case...in fact, He proceeds to tell me that I had to pay him the past due, plus late fees, the current months bill that isn't due yet, plus the next couple of months payments now, to stop the repo. I continually tried to make the payment over the phone and he would just start arguing with me and changing the subject and telling me I had to give the truck back. I told him, as I stated when I bought the truck, that I would be out of state alot, and he proceeded to try and intimidate me into bringing the vehicle back. Finally, He tells me I, and I quote, "You disrespected me and now I'm going to bring it all down on you". Well, seeing as how he wouldn't take the payment over the phone, I sent it to them electronically, thus to create a paper trail that cannot be disputed. A few days later, I receive a letter in the mail stated that I am defrauding the company by hiding the vehicle and that they are going to pursue criminal charges and that the police are going to come knocking on my door if I don't bring the vehicle to them. First of all, I'm not stupid, if I made up the payment, and am current on my payments, they cannot legally pursue repo as per state statutes. Secondly, if I were to return the vehicle, they could claim that I didn't want it anymore, stick me with the balance of the loan, possibly take me to court for judgment and garnish my wages, and I would have no claim to dispute it in court. the vehicle has been where I told them it would be, and is, and in no way has it ever been hidden, and I have many witnesses that can attest to that fact. After the threat he made against me, I am very hesitant in speaking to them personally. I get a message the other day, claiming he sent repo agents to get the vehicle and that it was not where I said it was. Again, I have witnesses that can testify that it was in fact there, and never moved for almost 3 days. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, the State Attorney General's Office, as well as emailed the story to all three news stations in Mesa County. I read the complaints made against them on the BBB website, and the BBB gives them an A+ rating for at least trying to resolve issues. I have read those so called resolutions, and they are so transparent, a dog could see right through them. My purpose with this review is not just a warning, but more so to see how many others have information that one can use to help fight them in court and to recommend as many people get together with their issues against this company and finally put an end to their tyrranical, immoral, unethical treatment of customers. I went to Carville's and reluctantly bought a vehicel from them, and yes, I have had many things wrong with it from the day I drove it off the lot. First, it started missing and wouldn't run properly, took it back, demanded they fix it, and they did. Albeit, I don't think they fixed it properly, but it's been running ok-ish since. Then, the timing belt broke, had to have it towed, they took care of the repair, but the mechaninc also told me that the air conditiong like had a leak and needed to be fixed. Also, the vent selector switch doesn't work and the vents are stuck on defrost, the power window switches are very flaky on all but the drivers door, and the power window motor on the driver door is started to go out and the window rattles. I also had to have both front brake assemblies replaced within the first month, both front hubs (it is a 4x4) were bone dry (no grease) and I had to replace both upper and lower ball joints. Oh, and the inner locks for the front hubs are cracked and broken (even though the 4x4 system works well, these have not caused problems yet). This has not been my first bad experience with Carville's. Years ago when they were in Delta, CO, I bought a truck off of them. I went to pick it up after a week of waiting for the financing to go through, and drove it off the lot. I got no further than out of the parking lot and onto the road when I realized my windshield had cracks in it...They weren't there when I drove it before they detailed it that day. I immediately turned back into the parking lot and pitched a stink about the windshield, and they told me there was nothing they would do about it and literally told me it was my problem. I leave frustrated, and several miles down the road, the front bumper falls off and I run it over. I go back again, and they tell me the same thing. A few months later the radiator srpings a leak, ends up plugging up the water jackets in the motor, and cause the head gasket to blow. Again, supposedly not their problem. I take it to a trusted Nissan mechaninc at the local Nissan dealership to replace the head gasket, and he tells me there are some serious issues with the internal parts of the engine. I told him where I got the truck, and all he could say is "it figures, yet another customer ripped off by Auto Mart". It's just wrong to see this company, with all the complaints and suits filed, that they are still allowed to do business. I was hoping one of the news stations would pick up the story, but with the money Carville's pays them for advertising slots, I seriously doubt they are willing to jeapordize that. All I can do is find sites like this in hopes of reaching out to others with similar experience who want to see this comapany get a taste of their own medicine.
