DO NOT fall trap to this company because THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!
In April 2010, my husband and I contacted this company to inquire about their services to transport our vehicle from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to our home in Olive Branch, Mississippi, on June 7. We were to receive a written copy of the terms and conditions to read and determine if they were agreeable to us. The pick-up date was not for another month and a half.
We were not concerned that they requested our credit card information during the initial inquiry and before signing a contract because we believed that we were dealing with a reputable company. We did, however, become concerned after learning that the company had charged the $200 deposit to our credit card the very next day, even though we were not officially under contract.
After receiving and reading the terms and conditions, we had some concerns. So we called the service representative to whom we had spoken, Jonathan Turco, to express our concerns only to find out he could not assist us because he was transferred to another department, and was told that he did not have time to assist us.
At that time we decided to ask for a refund of our deposit and was transferred to Mr. Masiello in accounting. Mr. Masiello reassured us that their terms and conditions were standard, and that they were a reputable company and would meet our needs. After our conversation with him, we decided to go ahead and retain their services. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!
On the Friday (May 28) before our scheduled pick-up date, we received a call
from a service representative from another transport company who informed us
that he had seen our vehicle posted on the national transport board and that our vehicle would not be transported because the company with which we had
contracted had gone out of business.
We immediately called Crowley to find out if this was true. We spoke with a lady named Shante, who told us that they were indeed still in business, but they had to lay off a large part of their staff. She felt that the person who called us was one of their disgruntled employees who had been laid off. She also told us that they had issued a refund of our deposit three days earlier, even though they would probably have a carrier for some time during the week of our original pick-up date.
We checked our credit card statement to verify the refund only to find that
Shante had not only lied about the refund, but the company had charged a second $200 to our credit card.
We did not receive any response to our phone calls the following Monday
presumably because it was a holiday. We called them numerous times on Tuesday, but our calls were not answered.
By this time, we were in South Florida and decided to go and speak to someone in person at their address of business since they were not answering the phone. To our surprise, not only were they not working at the business address, there was another company (not a transport company) at that address.
We were so stunned to learn that Crowley did not exist at this address, I
neglected to ask the company how long they had been located there. They did
look to be well established there. Now we doubted if Crowley was ever located at this address and if it is a legitimate company.
We called Crowley again on Wednesday in hopes of speaking to someone, but the phone number was no longer in service.
PLEASE LET THIS BE A WARNING TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR A TRANSPORT COMPANY. They may possibly try to reopen under the same or a different name. Watch for the names, SEAN CROWLEY, JONATHAN TURCO, SHANTE, PHIL, or MR. MASIELLO. DO NOT TRUST THEM. THEY ARE LIARS.
