Review 6/8/2011
We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen. We have had no less than six contractors come in with ideas, suggestion, and finally their "bid" to do the job. Most of these bids came in written form. All were very professional. Then we called Divine Developers. At their agreed upon first appointment time, they called and said the project managers car broke down on the way to our house and they rescheduled for several days later. The project manager and another person (don't know his function) did arrive on time and no sooner were the two of them in the house both my wife and I started feeling rather uncomfortable with them. The "project manager" used lots of non essential small talk like he was attempting to win us over instead of keeping things to business. He did write down specifically what we wanted and made some appropriate suggestions. But when he finished writing everything down he said he had to go out to his vehicle to calculate his "offer". When I said you mean your bid, and he was semi-argumentative about the use of bid versus offer. He doesn't make bids, he only makes offers. What was all that about? He finally came back in and wanted to sit down with us to make his "offer". We wanted a written "bid" but he would not provide that, he would only make a verbal offer. He gave us his "offer" that was $5000 higher than our highest bid from other contractors. No matter that the add we had cut out for this company said 35% off. It wasn't long before we were being pressured to except his "offer" implying the cost would be more later. I felt like I was dealing with a dishonest car salesman. When we held firm that his "offer" was too high and we were not going to agree to anything at that juncture, that we wanted a written bid to compare with our others, he and his minion got up and left. He did not even provide a business card, and when I asked for one he said he was out of them. I don't expect to ever hear from this company again and we will never see a written "offer", "bid" or what ever they want to call it. My advise: You would be better of with anyone else other than Divine Developers. Stay away from these guys!
