ECM is no better then Google
We have used ECM for several years now with each year getting worse. We finally made a decision to cancel this BS contract for the following reasons: 1)Our AC (Which we purchased from ECM) was leaking from the air handler. We had ECM come out and he cleaned the drain line. I advised him that I already did that but the quack said he had to do it again. After leaving the unit worked again for about a week at which time it developed the same problem (Leaking). This time the same quack came out again and within 5 minutes advised me that I need a new drain line and a pump to assist the water through the line. He stated that my drain line was cracked under my house. I asked him "How could my drain line be cracked? If it was, the water would be exiting through the crack under my house and not backing up!" In addition, I told him that we had the unit for a few years and ECM installed it, we never needed a pump why would I need one now! He had no answer for me and ordered me a new line and a pump for over $800 dollars!... I called a local AC guy (a friend) and he cleaned the line and added some freon. The unit has been working great ever since. I contacted ECM and told a supervisor I never wanted that guy sent back to my address for anything! 2)Our outlets in the master bath kept losing power. This time the QUACK they sent out said we had a bad outlet and replaced it. The power worked but a day later the outlets lost power again! ECM sent the same quack out and this time he stated that I have a broken wire somewhere between the GFI and my master bath outlets. We asked him if he could check the GFI and he said he tested it and it works! He told me he would have to get another electrician out to troubleshoot and find the broken wire. The cost would be $110 just to come out and then whatever he finds would be an additional cost to repair it. My wife asked him if he could just check the GFI and he stated that he was not allowed to check it unless it wasn't working!. I did some research on GFI's and read that the Power side of a GFI can work but the load side (The side that connects to my master bathroom) could be bad or have a loose wire. Well, I contacted a friend who is an electrician and he came out to troubleshoot the problem. After removing the GFI from the wall he showed me that a wire was loose. He tightened it and walah, my outlets work! I think that ECM sends guys out with little or NO knowledge and tries to get you to agree to pay a BIG Bill. They are in "my opinion" a SCAM company. I will be ending my relationship with them on Monday since they are closed on weekends! If I could give them 0 stars I would!
