I had an in home estimate, and was alerted that I had asbestos tile in a bedroom closet. I was also notified that it "looked" like the glue used under the linoleum had it in it too, but as assured that this would not be a problem. I was specifically told the new floor would go right over it. I spent 2 weeks clearing out the home of a blind elderly lady for her new floors. This morning the installation crew came. The floor-man walked in, noted the tile, and said the install could not be done until I had a specialty hazmat crew come out and remove it. It cost 500 for the test and a several thousand dollar quote. So I just had to cancel, and have my money refunded the day of installation, because as today's installer said QUOTE " we cannot touch "AVESTIS" (aka asbestos) This put the old lady in tears, as she had just spent a lot of money getting her home prepped just to have this done. I cannot believe empire doesn't know any better than this. When I called the person back who gave the in home quote, he basically just said "sorry there's nothing I can do." We would have been more than happy to work something out, but they didn't even have an answer outside of us having an outside crew remove glue paste from a concrete slab (quote 4500) to install a floor for 6000. Thank you empire. My wife and myself took a week off work to help the ol lady because YOUR guy said it was a go. THANK YOU VERY MUCH
