ILLEGAL TACTICS DO NOT USE - BETTER TO GET A UHAUL AND PICK PPL OFF THE STREET
When I decided to go with this company I was told by Glen J that a move from Charlotte, NC to Odenton, MD would take two days, in addition, Great American uses their own trucks and don’t hire outside companies to do their work and don’t lowball people. So due to all this information I decided to go with this company. All that was a lie. Shy the pickup driver told me Saturday (July 21) that he would be in charlotte Saturday evening and would meet me at the storage unit at 9 am via text. By 8 am I texted to confirm the time no response, called at 9 am no response then got a text at 9:30 that he was 2 hours away. At 11:30 no call and no response to text. At 12:15 got a text that he was 25 miles away. By 1:00 no call no response to text or call. By 2:00 Shy was claiming to be lost because the GPS couldn't find the address. So I called to give specific directions no response to calls or text. Finally by 3 pm, I had to meet him at another location 25 mins away. He was driving an Enterprise rent truck! Got to the unit and was told by shy delivery would be 2-7 days. After much debate he confirmed with dispatch that they could deliver in two days not seven but I was willing to give additional days and may Thursday the latest (July 26). Started moving packages, five minutes later my dresser 'mysteriously broke". Then at the end was charged for additional cubic feet AND extra packages but Shy only notified me of the additional $250 for extra boxes. I was bill doubled. Also, Shy told me by Monday (July 23) he would give me the name and number of the truck driver so I can call to confirm delivery for Tuesday or Thursday. Called and spoke to Glen who transferred me to Tony Gonzalez Monday (July 23). Tony with a nasty attitude confirmed the 2-7 day delivery but wasn't willing to talk about the billing because Shy was a manager and he was afraid of getting fired by disobeying management. He actually argued with me about the bill and told me to send a complaint to Mike Helms the VP of Great American to request a refund. And if I have any problems after hours and weekend leave a message on the dispatch line and it goes straight to Tony's voicemail. Wednesday (July 25) still didn't get the truck driver name & number. Called Tony left a message no response. So July 25-27 I've been calling leaving messages with dispatch and Tony no response until late Friday (July 27) Maggie Richards gave me a name Badgett and that my delivery is scheduled for Sunday. Maggie had no cell number to give me but promise to call dispatch and call me back with that info. Never got it. Saturday (July 28) and Sunday (July 29) I left numerous messages in Tony's box and dispatch never got a call back. Sunday (July 29) sent a text to Shy told me that I was going to file a police report because I feared that Great American lost my things. His response "Go Ahead". Shortly after, he gave me Badgett cell #. The number was wrong then the second time (after I told him the number was wrong) he gave me the correct number. Sunday afternoon (12:50 pm) I called Badgett to see when will he arrive and his response. "I'm not making a delivery to Maryland today I'm still in Florida. I can't reach dispatch right now let me try again and call back in a couple of hours. I will know more information. Called at 4:27 pm no response so I left a message. As of today (July 29) at 10:53 am I have not gotten a response from Badgett, Tony Gonzalez or Maggie on where my materials are and when will they arrive. I fear that my items are either lost or stolen and/or the company is holding my things out of spite. On August 4th I got a called from 757-372-3680 regarding a delivery and told him at that time that I was out of town (I can provide a phone log if necessary for July and august). On 8/5/12, I was told by Tony Gonzalez that I could not pick up my items and I still owed the $1328 with no redelivery charge because of their mistake and was going to get a call from M&M Movers in New York. I NEVER RECEIVED THE CALL UNTIL I CALLED THEM ON 8/20/12 AND WAS TOLD THAT MY ITEMS WERE GOING TO BE DELIVERED THAT NEXT DAY 8/21/12 which never happened. From 8/20/12-8/24/12 I was given the round around left messages with both M&M and Great American (Neither returned my calls I kept calling them - I got phone records & text messages to prove that too). When I did reach them the excuse was "our truck broke down it needs to be repaired and also during that same week I kept calling asking for my final total (because I despise Great American and there shady and illegal tactics I wanted to confirm what Tony Gonzalez told me 8/5/12. Gail from M&M kept saying (once she pick up the phone) "I will call you back" so by Friday 8/24 I finally got "We may be able to delivery to you by Sunday 8/26 but I don't know the total yet because I need to speak to Tony". So by 5 pm Friday I called Gail to confirm and got no response. Then I sent a text on Friday and Saturday no response. I got a call Sunday at 11 am by a driver who told me that he was 30 minutes away when I asked him for a total he said $1328 but call Gail because they maybe a redelivery fee. So I called Gail and Great American left a message on Tony's voicemail (he never called back even that following Monday) about this redelivery fee and the fact that I did not have the cash. So after many texts and calls with Gail I was FORCE to pay a storage fee (which Tony didn't tell me about) and redelivery or BE FORCE TO PAY ADDITIONAL FEES FOR EACH DAY. MIND YOU THIS ALL TOOK PLACE IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT BUILDING AROUND 1 PM. EMBARRASSING AND ILLEGAL! Once the delivery started I NOTICE THAT ALL MY FURNITURE WAS DAMAGED, GLASS WAS BROKEN, BOXES WERE RETAPED, and SOME ITEMS ARE IN PIECES BOXES IT WAS RIPPED OUT OF THE BOX AND I'M MISSING 8-10 PIECES OF HUGE FURNITURE
