BBB and FTC warn against using HireRight
|
I registered with a company that offers jobs with a background check. My first concern was that I signed up for the general background check and they tried to charge me for the 3 year check. The general background check did not require my SS# so I was comfortable in getting this process. However, the 3-year check required my SS# and I was not comfortable in giving it to a third-party. I am a retired teacher and I have had back ground checks every year. My current part-time work is for a company contracted to do government work. Again, I have had a back ground check run every year on me.
I decided to do a little investigating of my own and entered "HireRight complaints" in my search engine. According to the FTC, HireRight has incorrectly reported information to the point of breaking the law. The BBB reported that HireRight miss-reported information for one person, mixing them up with another person with a similar name but a different middle name. Another fault was that they went past the 7 year mark to report minor crimes that had been expunged.
Unfortunately, your grading system does not allow for a zero or negative score.
