Review 9/14/2011
DO NOT TRUST THIS FIRM!!! I initially spoke with someone by the name of Michael Lavine in Jan 2011. He was very convincing and assured us that we would qualify for a loan modification through their so called pre-screening process. We were told that the whole process would only take 4 months and we would be updated about our progress on a weekly basis. The only time we ever received any calls were when the payments were due. The payments were collected under the name Brian Linnekens in 3 installments of $1000.00 each. We reviewed this firm with the BBB, google, and verified his state license before ever making a payment. Everything seemed safe and the fact that they promised a full refund made it seem legit. After initially receiving/returning all the paper work via email/fax, I later received a letter by regular ground mail that required my signature. It stated that if a loan modification was not received then the firm would keep $950.00 of the $3000.00 paid. I never signed that letter and when ever I called this firm to discuss it, I was told that someone would get back to which never happened. After this process went into 5 months I called to complain. From then they had a company called United Processing handling my case. A gentleman by the name of Eric Shillwall handled my issues and did actually keep me updated. But in the end I was told that I did not qualify for a loan modification because my home/mortgage was not government owned and since it was a private loan by investors we did not qualify. Our mortgage is with Chase so that answer made no sense to us and if that were true shouldn't that be something that would be part of the pre-screening?! Basically that was a bunch of b.s! He claimed to have worked out a repayment plan with the bank and when I contacted the bank they knew nothing about it. He even gave me the info of his direct chase contact and they denied that anything was ever worked out. I mailed in my letter for a request of refund as they instructed in the initial paper work. I sent it with signature confirmation and never heard back of course when I called I got the normal response that someone would get back to me. As usual no one ever did. I didn't received responses to my emails either. I emailed a Chrystine Valdez who emailed me back saying to contact the main office she works in underwriting. Michael Lavine magically disappeared. His email and number no longer worked. When I went to file a complaint through BBB thats when I learned that their grade dropped to an F and that they were never suppose to charge upfront fees according to a law set in place Oct 2009. Brian Linnekens attempted to contact me once after I filed the complaint. I missed the call and was never able to reach him after that. His reply to the complaint was that a loan mod was never guaranteed and that they did work out something with the bank. LIKE I SAID Chase denied that anything was ever worked out! We had to work out something with the bank ourselves and I'm sure everyone would agree that no one has $3000.00 to waste so I don't know anyone that would pay that kind of money with out being guaranteed what your paying for! I did file a complaint with the attorney general and will continue to do so on a regular basis. They are scam!!!
