International Camera Repair in Pasadena used to be a reliable company but things seem to have changed. I took a Kodak Carousel projector in for repair. The projector was dropped onto the counter top while the gentleman was writing up the repair order. With reluctance, they offered a 15% discount off the repair order for the damage but that turned out to be not nearly enough to cover the additional costs of a new bulb and bulb socket. But, worst of all, they were going to charge me $45 for the replacement bulb when I went to pick it up. I had already checked with Samy's in Pasadena and the bulb was in stock at a cost of $15. I also checked online and found it for $10. The owner's response when I refused to purchase the bulb at the exorbitant price was that he was a small company and Samy's could buy in large quantities. However, three times more than full retail a few blocks away is outrageous! The owner was still trying to justify his business practices as I walked out of the shop this afternoon.
