This company ought to be estopped from doing business. Just today I searched for free ringtones online and selected one. Jamster indicated that it would text a PIN to use to unlock your free ringtone. Once I received the text--which sent a PIN and told you to text "OK" in return--I noticed there was information in the text about a monthly charge. I immediately figured they were scamming me (I think the correct term was "cramming"), and sent a return text saying I didn't want their monthly subscription. All to no avail; asking you to click OK was apparently meaningless and useless, since a monthly charge had already shown up on my account, which I immediately reviewed online. I asked them to cease and desist, and all I got back was a message that they couldn't send my ringtone. In other words, if you merely click on a ringtone, you have set yourself up for being charged monthly. Because Jamster wouldn't cancel at my request, I went to AT&T, who holds my wireless account. The AT&T rep said they get tons of calls about Jamster every day by people who didn't know they were being scammed. What a way to do business: cheat the customer with a bait and switch. Warn others not to even look up Jamster online or they may end up with unwanted phone charges. It's just a shame that AT&T has to take care of the unwanted charges because Jamster won't. How on earth can a company built on such tactics remain in business? And if you want the REAL story on Jamster, just call AT&T for the number of people Jamster has made miserable instead of hoping they will all lodge complaints with the BBB--because, apparently, most people do not.
