Shabby business practice

I called to have a repair on a sprinkler system, the guy showed up on time, but didn't want to fix the problem. I had narrowed it down to a problem with the manifold. He did not want to fix "I cannot guarantee the work" OK but fix the problem, I was ok
with no guarantee. He went on to tell me I needed a whole new system and it would cost $1498.00 to fix and they could do it tomorrow. Initally I said ok but quickly realized that was dumb. I cancelled the contract and was charged still $85.59 for nothing.
Not fixed, and tried to get me to do a bigger job. The part was $6.97 that needed replacing and an hour of work. I got someone else to help and did it myself. Really $85.59 for a look in the hole? Will not recommend them to anyone.
