Review 1/20/2010
I was very excited to finally book a moving company after relocating to FL. Since our home required some construction, we decided to leave our furniture in storage in Oregon until it was completed. After 3 months, we were finally ready to bring our belongings back. After doing my research and due diligence, I booked with Kings Vanlines. We flew back to Oregon to meet the movers for pick-up. On the scheduled date to pick up (12/9/09), when the driver didn't show for 2 hours, I finally called Chris M to find out what was going on. He called back and informed me that there was an issue and that we would have to use the "back-up" date for the following day and that the truck would be there between 8-9am. On the 10th, when they still had not showed by 10:00 am, I called Chris back. He informed me that they were doing a drop off about 10 miles away and would be there "shortly". When they still hadn't show by 11:30, I called Chris again. He said that he would have the driver call me. The driver did call about noon and informed us that they would not be there until 3:00pm. Mind you, we had been sitting in a car in the freezing cold since 7:30 that morning - we were on time. When the movers finally showed up at about 3:30 in the afternoon, they showed up in an Enterprise rental truck! As they were loading the furniture, I was informed that they were not from Kings Vanlines - that our contract had been sold! I was livid because Chris assured me before booking that they were NOT a broker. When we got home, I contacted Chris about this issue and he insisted yet again that they are not a broker...that he had looked up our contract and the owner had "given" it away to someone else because they were overbooked. Oh gee, that makes me feel better. We also asked why they were not wrapping and padding the furniture like they were supposed to. The guys assured us that it would be done in a warehouse prior to being loaded onto the delivery truck. Delivery was supposed to be between 7-10 days. Delivery actually took FOUR WEEKS (1/7/10), it was delivered by yet another company, and they had hired two local guys to help offload. These two guys said that our load was one of the worst loaded jobs they had seen in 16 years. Even though it was not their fault, they kept apologizing. Needless to say, none of our furniture had been wrapped or padded, so it had nicks, dents, and scratches on nearly every piece. Our experience with this company was an absolute nightmare: - The sales pitch was a total lie - Absolutely zero customer service (we initiated every single call aside from the sales call and the delivery driver call. We even had to track them down when they were a day and a half late on pick up.) - They lied about when our furniture actually left Oregon - it didn't actually leave until 2 weeks after they picked it up according to the delivery driver! - They showed a total disregard for our furniture - didn't care at all if it was damaged I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy and if I could give it any less than one star, I would.
