After several weeks of gathering information, asking questions and interviewing several different home modification companies, I decided to take the plunge. I had tried to deal directly with my mortgage company, but they point blank refused to help me in any way. I hoped and prayed that The Krup Law Group would be the ones to throw me the proverbial life preserver.
I'm not going to lie...I was extremely hesitant to go through with this process. Even after I had signed the papers and several months into the process I was apprehensive, wondering if I had done the right thing. I started the process in October of 2010. My loan officer changed 2-3 times during the process which didn't help me feel a whole lot better.
Before making my decision, I read all of the reviews, including the information from the BBB (whom I have trusted for years to give me accurate information when making big decisions). What made me choose Krup was their years in business (30+) and the initial point of contact who answered all of my questions, never made me feel pressured and, compared to many others I spoke with at various other companies, made me feel like he was being most truthful with me.
Like many others I fell on tough times over the past few years due to a severe injury which resulted in 10 surgeries and tons of medical bills. The interest rate on my condo was 10% and my payments were $1650/month. Being solely responsible for my mortgage, I knew I had to do something. Many months after I had started with Krup, my file was handed over to Pamela Stewart.
Pam kept in touch with me every step of the way. She answered my questions. She was always available to me. And she made me feel better when I was doubting that this thing would ever really happen. Yes, I had to submit paperwork a ton of times. Yes, it was the same paperwork over and over. Yes, I wondered why I had to keep sending the same info over and over (and I questioned Pam about it more than once!), and yes, it was a pain in the you know what. About 6 months ago, my mortgage was sold to another mortgage company. I had to resubmit the entire paperwork packet to the new lender. I wasn't happy, but Pam assured me this was a good thing because the new mortgage company was much better to work with the old one she kept telling me. I trusted her, but yes, I had my doubts. There were times when I didn't even want to answer Pamela's phone calls or emails because I was afraid of what she might say.
A few weeks ago I was at work. I had just returned from being out from a car accident, so I wasn't feeling my greatest and had all of the issues that come along with that to contend with when I received an email from Pamela to call her asap. Her voice was like music to my ears as she told me that my mortgage company had responded...they agreed to help me by doing the home mod loan. I couldn't believe it!
My interest rate went from 10% to 2.1% for the life of the loan. My mortgage payments went from $1650/month to slightly over $500/month (less than 1/3 of my original payments!!). The loan was finalized on Feb 27th...the day before my birthday. That was the best birthday present I could have ever asked for...I'm still dancing on cloud nine!!! So, for all the naysayers out there...
Yes, this is a tedious process. You will doubt yourself. Some days you will feel like you need to start packing because the worst is going to happen. You won't want to answer those phone calls or emails. You'll get tired of sending the same ole paperwork in over and over and over again. And you will definitely question your decision every step along the way. But after 18 long months, I'm living proof of what The Krup Law Group, especially Pamela, can do for you. Some of you complained about the payments...they did everything exactly the way they said they would...the fees were divided into three split payments (not equally), but I knew exactly when those payments were going to be drafted and was able to plan for that as well. If you are looking for a quick fix, this is not for you. If you have the time and the patience, call them. I will be forever grateful that I did!
