Marilyn Scheer Law Group Gets the Job Done
My start with Marilyn Scheer Law Group began in mid to late November of 2010. Becoming increasingly short of money due to changes in the sector that I worked, I found myself barely able to get by and facing a point in which I just wouldn't be able to do so. I foresaw warning signs of this happening more than a year earlier when I approached Countrywide (my loan servicer at the time). They had no interest in talking with me, advising me to "get a lodger" so as to be able to continue to pay my bils. That said, by the time I decided on Marilyn Scheer Law Group my loan was then and still is owned by Bank of America (BoA). I knew about the group from a friend of mine who acquired a permanent modification successfully with them under the Obama plan within 4 months or so during the spring/summer of 2010. My road wasn't to be so easy. I didn't qualify for the plan my friend fell under, and it would be 15 months until BoA decided to grant me my trial modification. Initially there was a lot of paperwork to be sent over to start the process and a decent amount of follow-up paperwork too (including more recent bank statements, gas and electricity bills, and etcetera). This continued on and off for some time with sometimes long waits in-between hearing any news. The problem mainly was with Bank of America being probably the most tough in terms of granting loan modifications. I had done my own research and saw that they had consistently 1 of the worst records for doing so. That was why in part I was glad to be using a law firm which would know the ins and outs of dealing with such a situation. Paperwork was apparently disappearing into a blackhole at BoA, and they admitted to such at 1 point. Ultimately, this led to Marilyn herself (with a lot of work) getting BoA to agree to a weekly teleconference so to deal with modification requests that fell into this category (for which there were quite a few and some fairly old as mine) with a team that BoA stated would focus on them. With this in place and Marilyn personally handling my loan modification process and my submitting whatever inane additional paperwork BoA could dream up needing a successful resolution was reached. I feel that what really drove this whole situation to a successful conclusion was Marilyn herself. My feeling was that for a time there was fair amount of staff turnover with newer and newer case managers taking over files which is always a problem (which I can understand having worked for agencies where this occurred), leading to some lags in communication and a bit of confusion with the case managers thereby leading Marilyn to really have to take the proverbial reins tighter (which is difficult when running any business as there isn't typically the time for micromanaging and it takes you away from other work you could be doing [plus you want to be able to have staff that're more independent]). Be that as it may, it appears that the team itself has reorganized to an even stronger force than it was in the middle of 2010 and earlier with Marilyn at the helm. I'm happy for the result I received from the modification, which was a 50% decrease in my home expenses (making it affordable again :) ). My recommendation of Marilyn Scheer and her group would come with 2 stipulations on the potential client's part: (1) a lot of patience as the process is largely in the hands of the bank time-wise so that it may take a few months as the case was for my friend or 18 months in my case (i.e., by the time the trial period for my modification is complete); and (2) patience again with submitting paperwork many times over updated or otherwise (and sometimes with the need for it to be almost immediately sent after receiving a request) to get the job done. If you can really tolerate doing these 2 things and are hitting a brick wall with your bank/mortgage broker then I suggest giving Marilyn and her group a call.
