I called Metro Mechanical to resolve a problem with a $92 invoice when I only requested an estimate.
They were very condescending in their responses to me. Here are some quotes: -"We were pretty fair with you", -"I can't have my guy drive ALL the way out there for nothing", -"What do you want me to do? Not pay my guy for coming out there?" -"You didn't know how to light your fireplace, and we did it, we solved your problem."
He also said, several times "This is ONLY $92 we are talking about."
Now the problem they fixed was lighting the fireplace, which took 5 minutes, and they charged $91.43 for this 5 minute service. Metro Mechanical explained that the minimum charge was one-hour. I understood that, but does that mean that there is a cost for an estimate? The response was one of the quotes above.
When asked what was fair, in an attempt to resolve the problem. I told him $0 is fair, because his employee did something I did not ASK for.
Then Metro responded with, "Fine, you send what you think is fair, and don't call Metro Mechanical again!" With this statement, Metro demonstrates a lack of customer focus, and only wants to collect his money for a service that was not asked for, not agreed upon, and incredibly over-priced.
