Think Twice
I initially contacted Oaktree Law through the internet for a modification. Got a call from a Renee. Saw a bad review so emailed July who emailed me back. Later Julie put me through to Marissa. A few days later something more pressing came up and although
Marissa called and emailed several times I did not respond as I was not in a position to move forward. I finally emailed Marissa, I believe the end of August and then Julie in early September (2013) when I was able to concentrate on the modification. But in
the meantime I had asked how the fees are paid, i.e. upfront, payments, out of escrow. I wanted to know because it is well-known that you should not pay upfront for these services. They are supposed to get paid only if they are able to help you. In my email
to Julie, I questioned why they were refusing to respond to this inquiry. Again neither Marissa nor Julie responded. I am sure she will have some good explanation but quite frankly, there is no good reason why you cannot tell someone in an email about payment.
I think they want to get you into their offices so they can convince you to hire them and pay upfront. I would be careful of paying anyone upfront for these services. Far too many people have gotten ripped off that way.
