Review 11/3/2009
I’ve been a bartender for over 10 years and to my surprise, I was very impressed with PCBS. It is the closest thing I’ve seen out there to learning like “On the Job.” and without all the practical jokes that seem to be part of paying your dues. I have put into practice many of the new techniques I’ve learned & enjoyed PCBS’s lectures very much.

Big John... you sir are THE MAN! Your skills and your personality far surpass those of anyone that's ever TRIED to teach me the mastery of pouring drinks. Keep it up - you're doing SB a huge favor! Brandon

John is probably the best instructor in California! Anyone that takes his course will see for themselves. Vince

Hey John!
Just wanted to let you know that I'm bartending at the Matador on State across from Paseo Nuevo. It is an awesome Tapas and Latin Steakhouse. Come in when you get a chance for some kick a$$ sangria!

Thanks again John I couldn't have asked for a better experience or a better teacher, Or a better teacher with experience!!! I had an awesome time and although I live in Orange County, you'll always get my recommendation! Thanks again! I'm sure I'll see you around. Maybe even for another course. :)
Take it easy

Here is a Must Read Review for Anyone Confused about How to Learn to Bartend
Hi John,
I just wanted to drop a note to you, your current and future students. I have now been successfully employed as a Bartender for the Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo, Ca. I believe some of my experiences will offer both some insight why your school is at the top of it's league but also how the job market is out in the "real world". First off, the schooling and instruction you provide far out performs any other course and offers your graduates a far better chance of succeeding. I had the chance of watching a graduate of another course try and fail miserably due to the simple fact that the instruction he received did not provide him with the information, resources, confidence and knowledge needed to enter the world of bartending properly. Although arriving at Spanish Hills, their (as most) recipes are different, when I tweaked the recipes to correspond with what you taught us in class, I have received accolades from several of our members here. Basically the recipes you have tested and taught to us rock! And what future student's need to know is that the number of recipes taught will better than prepare them for the real world. Once in a bar, club or other environment, the clientele will determine what drinks you will make most of the time. I would say no more than 40 regulars. But having that additional knowledge is awesome for you end up with a wider knowledge base which really impresses an employer.
Ok so here is the story I really wanted to share with you. I spoke to you earlier and found that due to these other courses not preparing their students properly, it has left a bad taste with some employers that folks coming out of a school will fail. I approach a friend of ours (or so I thought) right after graduating your course who manages a very reputable and large scale restaurant/bar. While having dinner there I mentioned that I had just finished bartending school and was looking for a position. Her response (which still shocks me today) was "I just laugh when someone tells me they went to bartending school". "You will not get hired anywhere". Basically this came from repeated attempts to hire graduates that failed from another course in Los Angeles. Well, guess what, I was hired on my very first interview, made sure the information was leaked to this "supposed friend" and behold, last night we received a voicemail that she may have a position open and was asking if I was interested. Quite the turn of events. Who is laughing now!
Once I graduated from your course, I had business cards printed, I also sent resumes out and the best place I posted a job wanted ad was on Craigslist. It was the Craigslist posting that captured the interest of my current employer and they contacted me!. Nice change. Anyhow what I would like all of your current students and folks trying to decide what course to take to know, is that your school is a class act. You tell it like it is, no hype, no BS. In addition you provide the necessary instruction for any of your graduates to be successful in this field. Anyone who cannot decide if this is the course for them, please have them call me. I am proof your course works the best!
