Review 12/11/2009
My mom was contacted first by a company named AMG (American Marketing Group) in April 2009 (same physical address as Premier Timeshare), they told her that they had a pre-qualified buyer that was very interested in her timeshare at Gas Lamp Plaza Suites, in San Diego; and they ask her if she would be willing to consider selling it. She had not intended on selling it, but she had just been laid off her job in February and thought that this would be a great financial help especially since she wasn’t sure when she may be able to find another job in this economy. They told her that they could close within 60 days, but she would just have to put up $1,200 for a title search, she told them that her money was tight because of her job situation and they said that they could absorb some of the cost if she could put up $999.00. She did, and then she got the run around for almost 7 months; with the company representatives telling her that it was being postponed mostly saying the delays were with the “buyers”, then she gets a call in October from Premier Timeshare, and they tell her that they are the closers for AMG, that the buyers have finally come through financing and they have set the closing date for December 4, 2009. He informs her that because so much time has passed that they would have to do another title search at her expense. She has been counting on this money from the timeshare for months. She uses the last bit of savings she has to put up an additional $1,377.54. Then 2 weeks later another person from Premier Timeshare calls her and tells her that the buyers have contacted them and told them that they want to buy at least 4 of her 6 banked weeks at an additional cost to her of $1,916. Of course at this point she is tapped out of money and the man tells her that if she can’t come up with the money they are going to back out of the deal, they had her in tears! She was devastated, so I told her that I would front the money so they could go ahead and close this deal and she can get some sort of financial relief. They charged my account and then sent a contract that said NOTHING about buyers that they had, nor did it say anything that even remotely sounded like what the man told me over the phone. All that this document said was that this money was going to pay for advertising of the 4 weeks, not that they were being purchased, and it basically gave this company no obligation to sell. I refused to sign it! We called the first man who charged her the $1,377.54 and he said that he didn’t know who this other guy was, and said that everything was still intact with her contract (although it was being postponed until December 8th now) but not to sign anything else or pay for anything else other than what she signed and paid to him. (still waiting on my refund, but am disputing the charges). Now this guy is unreachable and the people who we can get a hold of, when we actually reach someone, are saying that they never received my mom’s paperwork and that this closing in December “can not be confirmed or denied without her signed paperwork” which she had mailed in October, then faxed a copy in November and again re-faxed in December. So you would think if they never received this paperwork that the refund would already be in process, but the bottom line is that they are just scammers and their job is to delay delay delay and hope that the consumer does not pursue getting their money back. Well I am here to tell them that they may feel good about victimizing people who are honest and have good faith in people; and by the looks of the other posts this company is targeting people young and old alike, but they have messed with the wrong family now! I am so pissed off I am ready to drive down there and walk into the Palm Beach Police Department and go with them to arrest everyone involved in this operation!
