Worst builder ever
|
Worst experience of my life and I'm an engineer. It was a battle to get things correctly fixed. Sooo many things were screwed up and needed repairs. They slap you with numerous requests to pay them more money than is in your contract. Things like thousands extra for more concrete because plans called for 12" footer but code was 18". Why didn't they include that in the original contract if its code and they build numerous houses in the same county!? To rip us off. I fought every request for extra money and ended up not having to pay most of them but it was extremely stressful. Turns out there was plenty of extra concrete accounted for in the plans after I drew it up in CAD and presented my case! I tracked each truck and what they poured. They couldn't prove ANY overage poured. I proved the contract qty was plenty. That was just one issue of many. They refused to put anything in writing after a while yet per the contract I was required to provide things in writing. Communication was a God Dang nightmare!!! My buddy built with them too and has his own horror storys. I followed a Reality Homes car once to a house just starting to be built. Warned the owners about Reality Homes. They too were charged extra for concrete after signing the contract and they built a single story on a flat lot! It doesn't end after you move in. Plan on many warranty claims for dry wall seams opening with no tape! Other problems included whole walls that had to be moved after I painted since cabinets didn't fit, sliding glass doors that were so bowed they don't close, man doors so jacked they had to be corrected numerous times, super crooked facia boards, no ceiling vent for the kitchen sink, damaged cabinets, damaged both tub's, fire place was built cheaply like a box for an exterior siding vent and had to be rebuilt per my written proof it was discussed prior to signing that the fireplace was to extend all the way to the center of the vaulted ceiling with a traditional ceiling vent, one window was inches taller than the rest during framing I made them correct it, wrong glass shower door installed had to make them replace it, charged for tempered glass window in the bathroom after signing even though it was code didn't pay that one either, bank finally stepped in and refused to pay Reality one of the final payments until everything was corrected to my satisfaction THEN they repaired things they previously wouldn't thank God. Guess what? Charges work both ways! I sent them bills too for me having to repaint after thier screw up repairs and they paid for them. Kitchen sink plumbing leaked after move in had to warranty that and water damage to cabinet. Both mine and my buddies heat pump compressors crapped out in less than a year! Had to pay $$$ in labor that's not covered. I sold the house two years later to get out of it since I knew other things would be prematurely failing like the crappy heat pumps they use, more dry wall problems or leaks.
