Sunshine Van Lines...Where to start? Well like the other people who reviewed them here, I feel victimized. After weeks of checking with movers, we chose Sunshine. Their estimate was based on an inventory list we were asked to provide. We provided the list and were happy with the estimate. I spoke to Hailey at Sunshine many times about my worries and concerns, and she always said the right things to put me at ease. One of my concerns was that a group of shady characters would show up "in a Budget rent-a-truck" to get our things. She told me that this wouldn't happen. On the day of the move, what do you think backs into my driveway? A Budget Rent-a-Truck, and a crew who looked like they were on a work release program from a federal prison. The 'foreman', who barely spoke English, had me rapidly sign a bunch a papers, and proceeded to tell me about wrapping my furniture in blankets was free, but the tape they used to secure the blankets was $3 a roll. The rolls hardly had any tape on them, and they used 21 by my count. He insisted they used 35, but said he would charge me for 25. Now I saw they were shrink wrapping appliances, I asked "Let me guess, you charge for that too, right?"
His response was yes, $15 per item shrink wrapped ! Then they tried to use their own boxes for things that did not need boxing, and told us the boxes were $25 each ! None of these charges were ever discussed BEFORE the move, and Sunshine has failed to return our calls. At the end, when the movers had angered us enough, the foreman told us our price. it was DOUBLE the estimate!
Now we were really angry. He then proceeded to ask us to tip him and his 2 helpers. I refused. I had to listen to him tell me about how he was in the Isreali Army, and how he 'exterminated' 6 enemy soldiers, and that now our check was not acceptable for the first half of the payment. The paperwork clearly states that a check is acceptable for the first half. He threatened to put our things in storage for a fee, yet our contract said 30 days of FREE storage. These people are low down. Please think twice about giving them ANY business.. You have been warned of this poor excuse for a company.
