Dr. Knight is my hero! He saved me from unnecessary surgery!
I really cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Jon Knight or recommend him highly enough. When I woke up with a freak injury to my right thumb (I must have been fighting ninjas in my sleep, because my hand was extremely swollen and painful upon waking with no known causation), I was first sent by my internist to another hand specialist. It was an awful experience. Although he has a good reputation and treats lots of professional athletes, I felt like a number in the machine. He put me on antibiotics when I didn't have an infection, insisted I get my MRI at their in-house facility which couldn't accommodate me for days, promised to call if my MRI indicated surgery and didn't, and then tried to rush me into surgery while simultaneously making me jump to through bureaucratic legal hoops. I got fed up and went to Dr. Knight for a second opinion, and thank heavens I did! First, he said the MRI was terrible quality and that he would never in good conscience operate based on such a poor image. Second, he told me I only had a partial ligament tear, not a complete one as I'd been told before. He made the logical point that if it was completely torn, by thumb would be dangling and not really attached at all. Dr. Knight was methodical and conservative and suggested I try 4 weeks of physical therapy and that surgery, if ultimately necessary, would not be compromised by taking this time to try to heal with a less invasive approach. Well, he was absolutely right! After 4 weeks of physical therapy, my thumb is healing nicely, the strength is returning and my swelling is down. I won't likely need surgery, and if I even fight ninjas in my sleep again, and injure myself, I'm going straight to Dr. Knight. I wouldn't trust anyone else to treat my hand or do hand surgery if ever need it. He is caring and takes his time and his office staff reflects the same thorough and helpful work ethic. I can't recommend this office highly enough.
