About 2 months ago I brought in an antique Helbros watch to get a new glass cover, one new hand, and to have the gears refreshed so that it ran. When I dropped the watch off I got a lot of attitude from what I assume was the manager. I figured it would still be alright to leave the watch with him since they have been around for a while and seem to know what they are doing.
When I picked the watch up I was mad with what they had done. They did make it work and did put a new glass cover on it but the hand that they put on to replace the old one did not match at all, not even close. The watch is an art deco style that has a lot of gold and tan colors on it and the hands are black and cream. The hand they replaced it with was like an iodized blue color. It looked like the hand out of some $20 Timex. They claimed that was the only hand they could find that would fit. I was angry because if they had called me and told me that that was the only hand they had I would have told them to do everything else but not to replace the hand. Again I got a lot of attitude from the guy that was working at the booth. Different guy, same bad attitude. And then they had the nerve to still charge me full price!
And here's the real kicker. I just put the watch on this morning and the hand has fallen off. I don't abuse this watch at all. I wear it to the office and I wear it to school, that is pretty much it. I knew I shouldn't have had this job done by someone in a mall kiosk. I'm taking this to a real watch repair shop to get it fixed this time, forget these clowns.
