Review 11/7/2008
Subject: Ticketmaster and Suspected Fowl Play I tried to order tickets for a Jerry Seinfeld performance, to be held in Raleigh, NC on November 14, by way of Ticketmaster.  I tried to order the best seats in the house and I ended up with the worst seats, and I believe this was no accident.     When I got on the Internet to order on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 10:00 A.M., the time tickets were to go on sale, I went to ticketmaster.com.  I wanted the best seats for two people, myself and a date, and I selected “Best Available.”  However, they, the company, referred me to another outlet called “Tickets Now,”  a subsidiary of Ticketmaster.  For what would have been two $77.00 seats, Tickets Now charged me $256 per seat, totaling $512.  I refused.        I went to Ticketmaster again, and they offered me seats with some obstruction.  Again, I refused.  I went to them two more times, and I was referred back to Tickets Now.  It was the same price.        I finally got on Ticketmaster, which they offered me two seats in the back corner of the auditorium, for about $77.00 a seat, for what normally would have been about $35.00.  I bit the bullet and bought them.      I do not believe that this was an accident.  I think that they did this to me deliberately. For what reason, I don’t know.  Tickets Now,  with their practice of charging $512 for two good Seinfeld seats, is a legalized ticket scalping organization on the Internet.  This is not an opinion, this is a fact!      I believe Ticketmaster needs to look at themselves and their dishonest practices in selling good seats, regardless of who performs.  I know Jerry Seinfeld is very popular wherever he performs, and I know his tickets sell fast, but whenever Ticketmaster advertises in advance the cost of seating in the auditorium, the site where you purchase the tickets should be easily accessible to all, charge the rates they say are going to charge, and not have a subsidiary of theirs try to milk people of their hard earned money, just to make a few extra dollars.      This practice is unethical and downright dishonest, and it has to stop.  People should be alerted to this and Ticketmaster needs to clean up their act.  We are not rich, and we should be able to see whom we want, and be able to purchase the best seats available for the promised rate, not be referred to any other company, or branch, that would charge four or five times the going rate.           I am reporting this to the Better Business Bureau pending further investigation of this matter.                                                                                  Alastair Browne
