Vizio Black Screen on my M3D421SR
I've read about it and been warned about it, now it happened to me...

After having a couple of friends who had Vizio's with a decent experience, I decided to get the same one many other's did, the M3D421SR at Wal-Mart on Black Friday of 2011. The factory warranty runs for one year. Over the weekend, at the one-year anniversary, mine seems to have failed.

We were watching TV when the wi-fi connection kept disconnecting, I switched to the regular built-in tuner. After watching TV for a while I shut it off and then came back to try one of the built in apps. When I went to turn the TV on I couldn't. The logo stayed bight but the screen was black. Nothing works, not the side buttons, not the remote, nothing!

Because it failed over the weekend I'll be calling Vizio right away, now that it's a weekday. We'll see how they choose to respond. I'm hoping with the time-frame of the failure they do the right thing and take care of the problem. Unfortunately, others say that if repaired the repairs don't seem to last. The other down-side is that Vizio appears to no longer make an equal TV with the same features and refresh rate, which was the whole reason for choosing this set. (Makes me wonder if the set was a special build or discontinued for some reason when Wal Mart chose to make it a "Black Friday Special.")

Anyway, we'll see what happens... TBD
