Review 11/8/2011
***PLEASE READ BEFORE WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY!!!*** This is an honest review & I will try to state the actual facts followed by my opinions of the company. I obtained a title loan from this wilshire back in December of 2010 in the amount of $3,000. I maintained the payments on time untill I lost my job in early June of 2011. I made a partial payment (1/2 of the minimum payment due), and was trying to make arrangements with Wilshire to pay the remaining balance due for June as well as July's payment. Aftet speaking with a representitive and being advised about an extension, I was happy that they were willing to work with me in regards to my payment. I made another partial payment as they requested, and was assured that as long as I made the partial payment I would avoid reposession in July 2011. I continued communicating with Wilshire through August 2011 and made arrangements to make another payment when on 8/17/2011 at 5 am I was awakened by loud banging on my front door. While Wilshire was indicating they were working with me to get my payments up to date, they were actually preparing the DMV paperwork to reposess and sell my vehicle. I was told by the reposession company that I must turn over my keys in order to get my property from the vehicle. I knew this was not true as per California State Reposession laws, and I also advised the reposession agents that they had made illegal entry to gain access to the vehicl in order to reposess it. The men began threatening me by stating that they would charge over $1,500.00 for the tow and that they were transporting it to the auto auction that day so I would never get my car back. I contacted the Attorney General, The Federal Trade Commission, The Better Business Bureau, and several other agencies to help with this situation. I also turned to Wilshire Consumer Credit who told me to pay up or my car would be sold. I asked why they werent keeping thier agreement in regards to the payment arrangements we made and they stated they didnt have to. I ended up paying $1,290.00 (the past due payment and the repossession fees)to get my car back a day & a half later, and even though I had advised them I was going to pay the full payment that day they transported my car to an auto auction over 2 hours away. I had no way to get there, and had to pay for a rental car to drive down to get my car back. I decided to file a BBB complaint against Wilshire seeking reimbursement for all fees associated with the reposession of the vehicle. In the mean time I had been persuing litigation against the reposession company as Wilshire said it was not their problem, and the company had been contacted by both the california Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission. I got my car back and found that several warning lights that had never come on before were blinking including my service engine soon light. I performed regular maintenence on the vehicle with one mechanic and drove it to him right away. He advised me that there were over 15 screws and bolts loosened in and around the engine and that all the fluids had been drained. This mechanic last serviced my vehicle on 07/06/2011 and knew that this was not the way the vehicle was when he had last serviced it. I contacted Wilshire after I got my vehicle back in regards to these issues as well as the paperwork that they needed to send to DMV to inform them that the car was back in thier possession and received no response or answers. Finally I was able to speak with someone who stated that the DMV paper work would be taken care of and that I would not be charged any of the reposession fees. Fast forward to 11/8/2011 where I receive a notice that I owe $619.72 for reposession fees and they have still not reported that I have possession of the vehicle as the account has been brought current. The amount that I paid back in August 2011 of $1290.00 included all the reposession fees so even if they decided to charge me the amount of the reposession fees, that was already taken care of when I paid the $1290.00 and a supervisor advised me that I would not have to pay those fees. Now, nearly 3 months later I am being charged a second time for reposession fees that should have been taken care of. This company makes it company polocy to lie to its customers. They do not feel that there is anyone or any agency that they must answer to, and do not opperate by ethical practices. DO NOT GET A LOAN FROM THIS COMPANY! this company is barely ligitimate and is out to scam yor property and sell it because they loan you only a small amount compared to what your vehicle is actually worth. I learned my lession, and while I was experiencing financial issues at the time that was nothing compared to what I am out due to all of this unneccesary drama and expenses that I have had to incurr. This is a horrible company. The agents are rude and one even spent the entire call eating so loud I could barely understand her. Please do yourself a favor and dont make the same mistake I did or the others who have posted thier reviews did. What we say is true, and its not worth it.
