The product "H&R At Home 2009 Deluxe Federal +efile" was purchased online Jan 29th, 2010.The "sale price" amount (with free shipping) of $22.99 was instantly debited from my account. I received an email confirmation of the completed order #52074680 which stated that this product usually ships in 1-2 days.
Today, on Feb 2, 2010, I went to the link provided in the email confirmation to check status of the order. As shown the last couple days, it's status is "Processing".
For clarification I called the company and talked to a CSR. He would not give his name. When I asked for a clarification, he told me that though the product is in stock, the price has gone up and the company is only filling orders at the higher price and not filling the previous orders of customers who purchased the product at the lower price. He stated the lower priced orders are on permanent backorder. I explained that they have already taken my payment and are obligated to fill the order. The CSR's only response was that he would notify "Corporate" of my concerns. They should Honor this sale. The website and the CSR show it to be "In Stock". and stop with the "Bait and Switch" routine.

uy.com has the worst customer service of any Internet retailer I have come across. After cancelling my original order via phone (as it was held up in some verification process) I placed a second order via phone and yet again it sits on hold. Numerous calls to customer service etiquette ignorant European (heaven to bid we hire desperate Americans!) no resolution. Sure they have GREAT deals but I dare not say they are worth the aggravation. Now if you do not need your item within a certain time frame then you should be fine if you do then RUN pay the extra money to Amazon for their wonderful service! I spent $200 at Buy.com to have my order dwell in "verifications" from 11/30 - Pres. and $650 at Amazon on the same card with same shipping and billing info and Amazon has shipped already.....

Well, I guess I will add my "Me Too" here.
I ordered an item with "Free shipping".
I paid thru paypal. The receipt shows "Shipping: $0.00" but they added the cost of shipping into the total. Buy.com refused to refund my money. Paypal refused to do anything citing their policy of only refunding if I did not receive the item or I got the wrong item. No other refunds are allowed. Buy.com finally agreed to refund my shipping. The only problem is... I never got the refund. After months and months of emails asking where my email is, all I get is "we are working with paypal to resolve the situation."

Oh and FYI, from complaints I've read on other sites, If you file a complaint and they "agree to refund", the complaint is closed and marked as refunded. They never actually have to send a refund. So, keep that in mind when you look at their stats.

Zero stars from me (if possible)

I am a 52 year ols businessman...I do internet transactions on a regular basis.....This BUY.COM SCAM....YES....SCAM.....Has got to be the absolute worst experience of any internet purchase I have EVER made....(thats alot people).....I'm not going to get into heavy detail...but if anyone is reading this, that may be considering using BUY.COM for ANYTHING.....PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE.....Do yourself a favor and take your business somewhere else...Somewhere where your questions and concerns are addressed properly and professionally,.....This company in my opinion is nothing more than a bunch of kids trying to unload some items they have access to..(you will NEVER know where or how they obtain it).....IF....and I mean IF....you can get a live person to talk to,....(it took me a few days)....."After the PARTYING NOISE CALMED DOWN FOR A SEC, BECAUSE THEY MUST HAVE KNOWN THERE WAS AN ACTUAL CUSTOMER WHO SOMEHOW GOT THROUGH, I heard "Hey whats up dude...BUY.com...How can I help you".......So.....you take it from there.....Head the warning folks.......And if any of you DID happen to get your item....and it worked.....guess what.....YOU GOT LUCKY......L U C K Y""""""" They are scammers...liers....and ALL NON-professionals...........Stay away people........tHEY TRIED TO SCAM ME....BUT GUESS WHAT........wrong person to try to scam as they have found out.....but....IT HAS NOT BEEN EASY........SAVE YOURSELF ALOT OF TIME--GRIEF--AGGRIVATION--AVOID THE RUNAROUND--ETC.-ETC.-ETC. Why doesn't the rating chart allow you to give zero stars on this company! POOR is all I can say! The $8 item I purchased does not work with my Itouch! They want me to pay return shipping for something they feel is not their fault! I suggest you go to their website and write a review on your item and let people know that they should look at buy.com BBB record first before they buy from them. I would have never purchased anything if I would have seen these reviews before I made this mistake!

Don't forget the positive...there is nothing positive about buy.com

This has been the worst internet purchasing experience I have ever had. I made a purchase for a USB to SATA cable through Amazon.com. After the order was sent, it was basically impossible to find out anything about it. For days I waited for an update on the order, a confirmation that the order was received, that it was being processed, that it was shipped, etc... but I couldn't find out anything. I saw no charge to my card for a week (when it should be arriving) and for all I knew it had been lost. I had all ready sent 2 emails through amazon with no response back. I called Buy.com after finding a number through the BBB.org web site on them. The call was worthless, the got all my information and finally gave me their order number, so I knew they had at least received the order. But the person on the phone said they couldn't tell me anything about the order. They said the ONLY way to contact the people in charge of orders through third parties (Amazon) was to send an email through customer service and they would respond within 24 hours. I sent the email... no response. I called again, got the same thing as before. I demanded to speak to a manager... no luck, they refused to help me out in any way. They wouldn't or couldn't tell me anything about my order other than they could see it in the system and I couldn't talk to anyone and the ONLY was to contact someone that would know anything is through the email address which I all ready had sent a total of 4 emails to without any response at the time. I was told that they could see that they had been responding to my emails... at least there was something entered on the order as a response but somehow I just wasn't receiving them. I check my spam folders, everything and nothing was ever sent to me from them. I wrote a 5th email and chided them for being so ridiculously unresponsive. In my 5th email I reminded them that I KNEW they had my contact phone number because they used it to verify the order when I called. I demanded that they call and leave a message on the status of the order and how I can contact someone about it. Later, the package arrived and after it arrived, I had someone call and ask if I had received it (the carrier had all ready told them it was delivered), so they only contacted after it was finally delivered, as if all was forgotten... whatever. Good luck shopping with these guys, their customer service is a black hole... from this experience and others its obvious that they avoid doing anything by making everyone feel that their order was done with some kind of "abnormal" process which makes it impossible to help them. It's ridiculous... I would definitely avoid buy.com. Their deals aren't that great, you can find just as good or better at other places and you won't have to deal with their unresponsive system.

I continue to have trouble with Buy.com because I use Paypal to pay them. This pays them money from my bank account immediately, but when you do this they refuse to keep a copy of the order on their site. If you haven't kept a copy from Paypal, which does not give an itemized receipt, they use this as an excuse to not give refunds - they keep saying they can't find the order. This company is doing all it can to rip people off.

MY THIRD PURCHASED FROM BUY.COM AND I WOULD RATED IT ZERO STAR IF I COULD. I purchased "HP Pavilion dv9815nr Laptop / 17" WXGA+ high-definition widescreen / X2 Dual-Core / 250GB SATA hard drive / 3GB DDR2 memory / 5-in-1 digital media reader / wireless LAN / NVIDIA GeForce Go / Webcam / Vista Home Premium / Factory Refurbished $600.99 " I got the item two weeks later and very upset. K, L, A, S , LEFT SHIFT, AND ENTER keys were completely faded and loose. The computer freeze out of the box. I HAD TO REBOOT THREE TIMES TO START UP THE SYSTEM. I contacted via email three times in one week / got no response. I called 1-800-800-0800 and waited 30 minutes and put back on hold by CS twice then phone line drop. I called 2nd times and waited 15minutes/ no response. Horrible company. I need RMA # to get my refund and no customer services person can response my email or phone call. My credit card company said just send it back within 14days as their return policy and make sure insure package with tracking # . They want me to forward all email references as well as phone calls date and time. They are going to get my refund in full. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BUY.Com. Price are cheap because they are selling LEMON/ BURN OUT/ USED/ Leased returned products from other companies. i BOUGHT Refurbished LAPTOP DIRECTLY FROM HP AND I GOT THE ITEM ALMOST LIKE NEW SINCE THEIR Refurbished ITEM ARE LIKE RETURN ITEMS FROM CUSTOMER WITHIN 14 DAYS, MISSING PARTS, AND COSMETICALLY ALMOST RECONDITIONED AND ALMOST BRAND NEW. BUY.COM SOLD ME WORN OUT / COMPLETELY BURN OUR / USED/ 2 YEARS OLD OFFICE USED LAPTOP. THIS IS A LEMON PRODUCT. I found out that according to HP " THE SERIAL # OF MY LAPTOP was sold and register to ****Corp two years ago and the warranty already expired. I ordered a psp on dec. 18, 2008 with my credit card. after I ordered it I printed the recept and conformation number they provided me with information on when they were going to send my tracking number when it was shipped. I kept checking my email and nothing....and they do not have a number to call them so I sent email after email after email all week long trying to see where my order was beings I paid 20.00 extra dollars for it to be at my home in 2 days and NOTHING! i kept getting a adimated response telling me my email will be looked at and I would get a response in 10 hours???????
well to top it all off it is now christmas eve and still no psp, so I got on the BBB web site ( which I should of done before I did buisness with them) found a 800 number by LUCK and called them. they told me that my order was on hold because I had to send them the 800 number for my credit card company.....wow I never even got an email or anything from them saying that!! so how the heck would I know! My order said processed which made me believe it was in a ups truck somewhere close!! I ended up canceling my order but my money will not be put back on my card for another 3 to 5 days so I don't even have enough money to buy another one for my step son : ( DO NOT DO BUISNESS WITH THESE PEOPLE WHATEVER YOU DO!!!

On approximately 11/20/08, I purchased a product from Buy.com. After completion of the order, I had the opportunity to receive a $10 coupon on my next purchase at Buy.com through the Shopper Discount & Rewards program, which I believed to be through Buy.com, NOT a third-party site. After signing up, I received my $10 coupon. However, on 12/15/08, a $12 charge showed up on my bank statement from Shopper Discount. I did not purchase anything from an online retailer within the past few days, nor did I purchase anything over the weekend. On the charge was an 800 number that I decided to call to find out what this charge was. Apparently, by signing up for a membership at Shopper Discount & Rewards program, they allege that I authorized them to bill the card that I used at Buy.com the monthly membership fee of $12. I told the CSR that I had no recollection of this charge and wanted to cancel my membership and wanted a refund for the $12 membership fee that was deducted from my bank account, which she was happy to oblige. Since I am sending this complaint shortly after speaking with the rep and researching this online, I cannot say whether or not they will comply. However, the rep said she would send a confirmation email confirming that I have cancelled my membership, but I have yet to receive the email and it has been over 1 hour since the cancellation. Buy.com gives your credit card information to third-party vendors.... do NOT buy from Buy.com!!! I give them 0 stars for losing my trust. I'll be sure to monitor my bank statement for unauthorized transactions!

Avoid this company! First they said that my billing address was incorrect, now they say it is. Their website says that the order is in the processing stage, but service representatives say it was sent to the warehouse. Some service representatives say the order will be shipped in a day or two while others say that the item is sold out. What is going on? Where is my item? What is the REAL status of my order?

By the way, if you do need to call them, the number is 1-800-800-0800

I spend most of my time purchasing computer parts from the web and this was my bigest mistake i have ever done in buying from buy.com I feel so bad for not checking on their customer service. just see for your self they dont have a 1800 number not even a local number you will get a defected product for the price and you will spend a month to get the replacement back. 14 days to send the product back via ups ground, 2 weeks for them to review it and another 14 days to send the replacement back. and the only way for comunicating with them is via emails in which they will automatic reply back and you cant even reply back to the email.
check for atleast a number you can call them and talk to someone not just autmatic emails. hate this buy.com they should go out of business not circuit city. they should improve their customer service and include at least a pager #

My first time purchasing from Buy.com. I ordered a simple Netgear Wireless Internet Adapter refurbished for $23.00. I shipped it to a PO Box and when it never came, I emailed Buy.com and thats when they told me they don't ship to PO Boxes but Fed Ex said they left it at the door. What door?!?! What address??, I asked them. But they ignored my questions and said it was my fault I was not there to sign for it.
I called Fed Ex myself and they said it was delivered to some address I never even heard of nor knew where it was. I informed Buy.com but still, they neglected to issue me refund of just $23.00. I asked to have a manager call me, but that has yet to happen. They claim there is nothing they can do...but yes there is. They can either ship me another product to a different address (like my work) OR issue me a refund. They also could have found out from Fed Ex where it was shipped to but they failed to do so. This company scams customers. They insist on NOT issuing me a refund for a product I NEVER RECEIVED due to their failure to indicate they don't ship to PO Boxes. This company is a joke. Please also make your complaints on Better Business Bureau.

If you are now or ever have been a military servicemember, I strongly urge you to boycott buy.com.

I ordered something from Buy (or should I say BYE, as in BYE BYE never again.) back in August and was forced to call the order in because their website rejected my address. I got my product, they got my money. No problem, other than I had to call to make it happen.

I attempted to order some digital frames during a rebate offer period and had my order kicked back, same as in August. No problem, I thought, I will just call them like last time and the order will go through. WRONG. They stated that they "could not accept orders over the phone" even though they did in August, and "they do not ship to APO AE addresses" event though they did just that in August. (You change APO AE to APO AE, NY. Boy, that was hard.)

I think personally this is election-related discrimination on what they percieve as a polarized demographic. I gave them multiple chance to redeem themselve via email, but instead kept getting automated and half-baked responses. One rep even told me that my bank was the one who cancelled the order. My bank's response: "Huh? He must be out of his mind?". Indeed. With enough entries on here, and a little luck, we can bring this company's rating down to where it should be. Just above nothing.

It is illegal to discriminate against customers based on political preferences. (and I'm not even a republican.) I could not help but feel like this was exactly the case, especially when I spoke with the representative on the phone, who instantly sounded nervous when I told him who I was and that I am in the military. He then lied to me outright by saying that the company did not cancel my order, my bank did.

This company = massive FAIL. I needed those frames by yesterday, and now I have to begin my search all over again, and am out the three weeks deliberation time this all took. Thank God they didn't get any more of my money.

I have only bought 2 things from buy.com and both incidents were bad. The first was irritating, the second... horrible.

1st purchase nokia 770 internet tablet. I purchased it and waited for the tracking number. 4 days later I checked again to see the status of the shipment. The shipment and order was canceled. Customer support told me that the purchase went through even though they were out of stock. The didn't give me an email or anything. I had to call in.

2nd purchase: year later just purchased a westinghouse 26" lcd tv. Customer support number was removed from website. Had to search the internet. My issue here is still in process. purchased june 25 2008. Buy.com sent me a notice saying that there is a shipping confirmation for the order.
I checked FedEx Tracking number 740701210315731 and it said Jun 26, 2008 3:01 PM Package data transmitted to FedEx with an expected date of June 20 2008. On the 29th I checked the tracking again and the expected date was removed with no updated info. I was on a cruise and Buy.com didn't provide a number on their website to call so I filled out their email support form online.

Their immediate response was to file a claim for me. They are taking the full 5 days. Not the speediest process. Especially since they told me that resolution will take 3-5 days. I called on the 5th day. They seem to outsource their claims department to the philipines and india. Customer support told me it's only the 5th day (friday)and I should expect an email notification next week . They would not spicify Monday (6th day). They would not tell me that it would be monday. Just next week. I asked for clarification of what next week will be since it is already 5 days. No clarification was given, only that if I don't recieve a notice on monday to call back in.

Just to double check I called Fed Ex. They told me that there was no package to pick up to deliver to me. I called Buy.com to cancel the claim and give me a refund. If they aren't willing to send me a product there is no need to pursue this further. They told me since it's in a claims process they can't give me a refund.

They bill me first
They don't ship a product
They're still keeping my money
They put me through a claims process
3 weeks later still don't have a product, answer or a refund.
All the while collecting interest on money for a product they didn't send.

BUY.COM IS HORRIBLE! I placed an order on April 29th. It was suppose to arrive at the latest May 13th. I had to email them over 20 times before I received a reply. So they Submitted a claim Without my permission! So I emailed them back asking them to just cancel my order and I'd just run up to walmart and buy the game I ordered. So far I have sent them 15 emails telling them to refund my money and cancel my order because I'm not waiting another 2 wks for them to ship it out. They have not responded.. And I only got an automated response for 2 of the emails I sent them. This "company" is a JOKE!

Purchased A Sony laptop computer from them on 3/8/08. Buy.com cancelled the transaction alleging "wrong description" of a lower end model. In reality, the model was clearly described, and it was a higher end model. They should honor their pricing mistake (if so). There should be some kind of law requiring these companies to honor the prices they advertise (like regular brick and mortar stores).

I purchased a Sony laptop from their website. it was declined as it stated the credit card would not go through. I called them and received someone from another country who spoke very poor English. I had to call back again and this time got someone that spoke OK English. I asked what the issues was and he said that I had to contact my CC company which I already did. My cc company explained that Buy.com is listed in their database as ," at risk company" and they flagged it as a possible problem transaction and that they needed to call my cc company to obtain a manual approval. The guy from buy.com said that it would do not good that that they do not do this. He then said he was canceling the order and did not ever ask if I had another form of payment. Let's see here, I have no credit limit on my credit card. I explained to this guy that their service is absolutely out of the times if they cannot call my cc to verify the transaction. This guy said he canceled the sale and that I would have to sign up for another account! he canceled my account as well.! Forget it, buy.com is not worth any of the trouble. Poor overseas support, poor customer service and look at all of the complaints here alone on this company. Simply horrible and to put in perspective, I average around $1000 each and every month on electronics, computers,etc... alone. Last month I spent $4320.00. Nothing ever from buy.com

I purchased through my google account a product from buy.com. I received it on January 10th, but it was damaged. I immediately emailed the complaint department. They replied with request for photos and information, which I sent them back immediately. After receiving no further information on how to return the item, I contacted them numerous other times to request follow up. I also emailed them my phone number, to which they replied they would call within 48 hours to follow up. They NEVER called back. They post no phone number to contact on their website. Although I suspended payment on my credit card, buy.com sent information to the credit card company that the item was delivered, which it was, however DAMAGED. IF buy.com can send confirmation of payment to my credit card, they should be able to send me return instructions. I will never buy from this company again, and currently I am still trying to return this item, although I don't know how I will due to their convoluted and inefficient communication channels.

I purchased a baby sled approximately two weeks ago. I also used google checkout. I was supposed to get my item in 3-5 business days. That ended four days ago. Furthermore, my tracking number is not valid. I called the Post Office and they laughed at me telling me I was missing about five numbers.
I have called six times, each time speaking to someone outside of the USA, each time telling me they would "elevate my issue" to corporate. I asked for a refund. They would also "elevate" that one, and then in 3-5 business days I would recieve a confirmation email if I was indeed, going to get a refund.
I am currently on the phone with them, and I have been on hold for 53 minutes!
