Please Read, this is important
i highly recommend not to trust or do business with Oak View Law Group.
1. you do not need lawyers to represent you in credit debt, you just need a company that is highly reviewed by the BBB that can just work with the companies in reducing your debt, so all this power of attorney stuff is not right.
2. the whole purpose of getting out of debt is to make monthly payments so you can get out of debt in a timely manner, not pay less than 150 dollars a month in to them.
3. companies who actually do this legitimately should not charge any fees except what is already worked into the debt you already owe.
4. they have been found by several of there customers trying to take much much much more out of your accounts than agreed upon, and than they say stuff like NSF in your account. i have talked to several of their formers clients about this and it is true.
5. they are not organized and technically lie to you. Look at their BBB rating it is poor.
6. all their testimonies they have on their website are made up. don't trust them
i strongly urge others to not seek their help and look for other companies and check the BBB reports before you sign up with anyone. good luck.

OVLG asks you to report scam collection calls
Oak View Law Group (OVLG) do not have any one by the name of Sam Benjamin, Chris White, Jennifer Hayes, William McCall, Andrew Jones, James Cooper, Michelle Brown, Jeff Morrision, and Mack Jones.
OVLG is a law firm that provide Bankruptcy and other debt relief services to our clients. We do not do any kind of collections.
It seems someone is trying to use our law firm name to scam you. We have received several similar complaints where scammers/competitors are trying to use our name for collection purpose with the objective of defaming OVLG.
We would request you to go through our clients' testimonials at http://www.ovlg.com/testimonials/ and think whether Oak View Law Group is really a scammer.
Our Principal Attorney, Joseph Henry Marman is trying hard to get hold of these scammers. As reported by him, these scammers are using a "Magic Jack" phone line connection, whereby, it is impossible to trace their calls.
We have also published this information on our website at https://www.ovlg.com/scam.html. We also encourage you to report about these scammers to our president, Mr. V. Kalani at kalani@ovlg.com

On September 23, 2011 at 5pm West Coast time, I got a message on my answer machine from a man named Sam Benjamin, who works at Oak View Law Group in Massachusetts. He notified me about an online payday loan from Cash America I apparantly took out in March of this year (never took out a loan from them). He went on to threaten me that if I didn't pay the remaining $277 from the $367 by the following Monday, I was going to jail and his company were going to sue me. He concluded his message by saying that he would be out of his office until Monday. The next day (Saturday, September 24 at 8:30 am), Benjamin calls my number again from the same number (781-443-7087: Massachusetts). Again, he leaves a threatening message stating that I need to pay the loan by Monday or I will get sued. Now, I thought he wasn't going to be in his office during the weekend. Anyway, I went online and found the Oak View Law Group. Accoriding to their website, they have 3 locations, all in California. Therefore, no Oak View on the East Coast. I call the Citrus Heights location around 10am and asked them if they know a person name Sam Benjamin from Massachusetts. The person said that he works at the Citrus Heights location. Now wait a minute; how did he get from Massachusetts to California in two hours? Definitely a scam. I never paid Cash America and haven't heard from Sam Benjamin since. Why should I have to payback an online loan plus interest if I never signed their contract and receive my money through my banking account? People should be aware of this scam.

I don't know if Oak View Law Group is associated with these scam artist calling my phone from the # 818-338-2220 portraying themselves to be Chris White, Jennifer Hayes, William McCall, Andrew Jones, James Cooper, Michelle Brown, Jeff Morrision, and Mack Jones. They keep harassing me claiming I owe money. I know it's fraud because I don't owe any debt.....I have been cursed out by a few of the false names above. This is really getting ridiculous and out of hand. These people are crooks and are requesting credit and debit card numbers. They have very very strong accents. BE AWARE!

Some one claiming to be from Oak View Law Group has been calling me at work and leaving messages. However, when I return the call (617-531-2612) there is no answer or I am transferred to voice mail. The person calling makes threats that any educated adult would know cannot be carried out in a civil matter. This is probably why no one answers the phone. The caller has now started harassing my supervisor threatening her with legal action because she is listed on my credit application as my supervisor. How shady and unprofessional is that? If I do owe a debt, I will go to court before doing any sort of business with this company. My supervisor and I are pressing the States Attorney for relief from this unprofessional, unethical, harassment.

As I read most of these reviews they give me the perception that Oak View Law Group is accredited through the BBB. I've looked on the BBB website and they are NOT accredited through the BBB.

I was in debt for almost $10,000 and had no way out till I found Oak View Law Group who helped me to find a way out of the debt. I was told it would take 24 months and I was able to get out with in 18 months with a big savings to me so I could start my new debt free life out and enjoy not worrying about the phone ringing from someone looking for money that I didn't have for them. It was a big help knowing I was able to do it with the help of Oak View Law Group and the fees were low to so my money was used for my debt. Thanks Oak View Law Group and Rebecca Smith. I also just want to let everyone know that if you talk to them on the phone and have a way to record the phone call then please do. I was miss guided and was told one thing on the phone but then told something different and charged more money then I fell I should have when it came down to the final account being paid off. So I suggest to everyone looking for help and going to be using OVLG then please record all phone calls and save all emails. Best of luck to everyone

Hello
Let me start out by saying I selected this firm because of the BBB rating that they received.
I went through all the documents that they supplied to me, signed up with OLVG. I did mention to Austin that I was not able to pay all at once. He advised me that I could split my 1st payment in 2. To date that first payment has not yet been debited. I did speak with Austin and he assured me that the payment would be taken out and that once the first payment is made the letter for limited power of attorney would be sent. Well, I have not heard back from Austin to date. Time is of the essence to me for my payday loan nightmare. I did call the main number and spoke with Shannon (Indian Call Center) and he advised me that I should speak with Austin and to call back in 15 to 20 minutes. At that time I told Shannon, that I don't think I want to work with OLVG, because Austin does not call back, no once responds to my e-mails, and who is Priscilla? I see her name on the website and I guess she has something to do with my case. I did speak to her and she sounded like I was bothering her with my questions. I did receive an email that she forwarded to me, meant for Austin. It sounded to me like Austin handled this case, because it's not my job at this point in time.
I, too, will give them one more week to straighten out my case or I am cancelling my service with them.
Will keep you up to date with my account.

Hello,
I would like to share my own personal experience with Oakview Law Group (OLG) over the past couple months. It's an honest assessment of what has transpired so others can benefit from my situation. I just think it's important people are armed with some real knowledge about this process, considering the serious nature of what they are trying to accomplish.
- OLG has received the first two months of their initial start up fee's, and I was relieved to see they sent out documentation to all my creditors once they received their first initial payment. Off to a good start.
- Creditors will continue to contact you even when OLG has sent documentation to them. Please don't be under the illusion they will stop contacting you until a settlement has been reached. I don't know about you but I plan on being involved in the final negotiating language.
- Von is my main contact with OLG and I've sent him periodic correspondences to check on my account, but also to send him updated information from my creditors as well. However, I have not received any responses back from Von over the past couple weeks, which has really caused some concerns for me. I'm in a precarious situation with my creditors like many of you, and I do take this process very seriously, especially when you take into consideration the legal risks and associated costs involved here.
- My concerns with Von and OLG is if they are really taking care of business at this point, because we're 60 days into the process and I'm 90 to 120 days out with my creditors. I feel I'm at the proverbial fork in the road...do I stay the course with OLG, legit or not legit, or do I pick up the ball and run with it myself? Hope is not a good business plan, so I'm going to give Von at least another week to ease my concerns. - Please Note: I'm under the impression Von works out of the Indian call center, so I'm really not sure where the American lawyers come into play, regardless. This is the reality of my own experience with OLG up to this point.
- I've recently noticed OLG's BBB rating has slipped from an A- to a BB+. I'm not trying to sound off the alarm bells, but it is a valid concern nonetheless. There are a lot of shady debt settlement companies out there, and I'm sure many of you hired OLG because of their excellent BBB rating. I will continue to monitor this situation moving forward.
- I will follow up with another post within the next couple weeks about my status, because the purposes of my post was to inform everyone of my experience. I just think it's important people are armed with some real knowledge about this process, considering the serious nature of what they are trying to accomplish. We all want to avoid becoming victims and compounding our situation by not knowing all the facts.
- I appreciate your time and wish all of you the best of luck.
- 8/29/10 Follow Up
Hello,
I posted my original review back on 7/3/10 of Oakview Law Group and much has changed since then. I can honestly say now Oakview Law Group is indeed legit. Von Griffen has been really great to work with. My concerns have been erased. We may have had a few communications issues before, but we are definitely on the same page now. It's a great feeling!
Von just settled one of my accounts for 30% and he is in the process of finalizing another one for about 40%. I can't thank him enough for all his efforts. He has exceeded my expectations. What a relief to have a couple of these behind me now. I still have five more to go, but at least it's a couple steps in the right direction.
I will provide updated information as Von and I continue our journey of knocking one off at a time. I would love to take care of the remaining five, but my budget has limitations like everyone else.
I hope this helps ease some of your concerns out there, and I wish you all the best of luck. Please do not hesitate to hire Oakview Law Group to settle your outstanding credit card debt.

I was in a lot of debt due to divorce and not receiving any child support. I had a lot of payday loans and did not know what I could do to get myself out of this mess. I looked up debt relief and found Oak View Law Group, I read all of their reviews and decided to give them a call. I spoke with Van and Richard ans they were extremely helpful in explaining how the process works. I decided to sign up with them and my creditors have already been notified, I have been with them for only a week. The monthly payment plan is easy to manage and I look forward to getting out of debt in a shorter period of time. Richard Smith has been wonderful to work with, he always returns my emails and calls promptly and is extremely professional, he makes me feel better about my situation and I feel like I have a partner in this process. I would recommend Oak View Law Group to anyone in debt that needs help.

I start with ovlg thought it was a scam but it was not. They help you out, they set up a payment schedule very flexible so you can get out of debt. The best feeling in the world is when ever you get the letter from the creditor saying that they have settle your debt, and you don't have to pay any more. "Make sure you have the information of your creditors that would make everything faster" Russell Smaith was my case manager. "Thank Russell"

I contacted Oak View Law Group on May 10, 2010 after trying to deal with overwhelming payday loan issues, and they replied immediately. I can honestly say, my experience with them has been wonderful thus far. The customer service has been outstanding and the staff prompt to assist me and very patient. I spoke with Peter Simon who has been kindly "holding my hand" through this difficult decision. I'm glad I took this first step and that it was with the Oak View Law Group. If you find yourself in debt difficulties PLEASE contact them, at least to get a perspective on what your options are. I look forward to working with them to get myself back on the right track and off the debt rollercoaster. Thanks OVLG!

I have had a very good experience with working with Oak View Law Group.I came to them after getting into trouble with on-line payday loans. I had too many and could not cover the payments. I found the website and started the process with Richard Smith. He explained all the details of the program and helped me get signed up. He has been so helpful and I know that this program will get me out of the debit that had been keeping we awake at night.
