I was a loyal customer of Desert Air Conditioning, Inc. for over six years. For my past three appointments, the company never arrived within the FIVE hour appointment window. The company also uses incorrect parts. Instead of using the correct size filter, the company duct taped the wrong size filter to the air return. When I brought these issues to the OWNER’s attention he stated that he was a union shop and had to pay his employees overtime after 4:30 pm and that I was lucky that he was not charging me an additional service charge because his employees were arriving after 5pm. Even though the company could not meet the five hour appointment window, I was the lucky one not to be charged an additional fee, I guess for “failure to keep their appointment.” When I decided to cancel my service contract due to the obscene lack of insight into customer service etiquette, the owner refused to look into crediting my account for the appointment he never kept and my credit card company handled the disputed charge. Generally a company that would like to maintain loyal customers will take responsibility for their mistakes, or offer to compensate the customer for the inconvenience in some way or even simply offer to reschedule the appointment at another mutually convenient time. The owner, (Jeff Shaw) chose none of these options.
UPDATE: The owner subsequently decided to refund my account.
