We purchased a home for $180,000. Lawyers Title Company processed the closing documents. The fees we were charged by Lawyers Title ($2,569.50) seem exorbitant for the actual amount of work performed by them on our behalf. Basically their service consisted entering our data in an electronic form. I estimate the whole process took a data entry clerk no more than two hours.
Examples of the inflated fees we were charged include $75 for documents to be emailed and $62.50 for overnight document transfer. There is no way these are actual costs. Additionally, we had one fee for "lender's coverage" mysteriously change from $34 to $340.
Finally, the agent responsible for overseeing our documents was “unavailable” at a crisis point before signing.
I would give a rating of zero, but the minimum the system allows is one star!
