I own a Lexus ES 300 (2003) and the first date of use was 30th April 2003 and with the Lexus powertrain warranty of 6 years or 70,000 miles. The car was under warranty on Jan 5, 2009. On Jan 5, 2009, the car had 56,977 miles when “Check Oil” lamp turned on. I took it to the “Lexus of Ann Arbor” service center and after a preliminary scan, the service person stated that the oil level is full so the lamp has been turned off. There was no meaningful diagnosis conducted and I was hurried out of the service center with words like “we are backed up today” and “this should take care of it”. It is my firm belief that the service personnel chose to turn the warning off and not dig into the root of the problem. On Oct 26, 2009 (66938 miles) at ~ 11am the car engine failed and I towed it to “Lexus of Ann Arbor” for further diagnosis and repairs. Lexus of Ann Arbor and Lexus Corporation pointed fingers at each other and gave me a run-around for 30 days without a firm response of honoring my warranty. I have taken matters to the Courts but wish to warn all that Lexus "pursuit of perfection" is a blatantly false and misleading statement. If a premium brand fails at 67,000 miles and warranty is not honored, all I can say is "Caveat Emptor"!
